If you have never heard of the comic the Perry Bible Fellowship, you must go to the site or the comic archive right now after you click on the cut, and be prepared to laugh so hard that it feels like you're going to regurgitate some weird little creature.
Here's an example:

( I love it so much that I made this! )
EDIT: Thank you to everyone for the nice comments! :D
Here's a link to the design as requested: CLICK!. Spread the UNICORN POWER! yeah! ;D

Scrappy Scarf
Nov. 27th, 2005 11:34 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I made this Friday night in about two hours. It was inspired by part of a shirt by
atomicsean. It's a fancy scarf made from all sorts of scraps, mostly left over from my halloween costume: red velour, black jacquard and soft tulle and lining fabric, white shimmery fabric and white t-shirt scraps. I cut strips about the length of my forearm or shorter and tied them together, then knit them up on large needles with three stitches per row.

I pulled out some of my decorations, took pics of them, and printed them out. then i cut them and glued them to blank cards. nothing fancy, but i'm happy with how the pics turned out :)

Purse Update....
Nov. 27th, 2005 02:22 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
So I finally decided to take pictures of the purses I've made recently, the pics are pretty big, but oh well. These are the five completely finished purses I have, meaning that they are fully lined and ready to sell. I'm going to take them to this boutique soon, so any feedback anyone has is great. Thanks!
( Purses Galore )
All of these purses are made out of grossgrain ribbon, I sew the ribbon together to make the "fabric". My fav is the one with the heart, and the first big purse took me the longest. I don't use any kind of pattern, just start sewing and see where it goes!

handmade bracelets
Nov. 27th, 2005 02:49 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)

This bracelet is named after the friend who shall be receiving it for Christmas. I haven't made jewelry since using pony beads as a child, but I'm quite satisfied in how this turned out. So much so that I almost don't want to give it up! ;)
To make, I used fishing line and strung a mix of vintage, seed and glass beads, and attached a lobster claw closure (because I find those are easiest to open and close). I think I've figured out what else to give those friends who I'm not quite sure what to give them!

I made a new purse today! I made it in the style of a messenger bag so that my stuff wouldn't fall out (i usually don't put any type of closure on my regular purses). There's also a pin on a bear.
Blue Monkey
Nov. 27th, 2005 05:06 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I am a nitwit. The entire time I was making this I had the tune to Blue Monday by New Order stuck in my head:

How does it feel, To stitch me like you do
When you lay your hands upon me, And jab that needle in
I thought I was mistaken, I thought my tail was on
Tell me how do I swing, Tell me now how do I swing
Those who came before me, Never lived through their construction
From the draft until completion, I'm the first to make it though
And I still find it so hard, To say what I need to say
Will you put my eyes and mouth on, Just so I can see today
I see a machine in the distance, I fear for my safety
If it wasn’t for your reasurance, I’d be a monkey in a scrap heap today
And I thought I was mistaken, And I thought my tail was on
Tell me how do I swing, Tell me now how should I swing
Now I lay here waiting
I thought I asked you to finish me, While I laid here on your work bench
Tell me how does it feel, When you forget my appendage
( Of course - I did end up sewing the tail on )

edit: the memories are working now. but if anyone has any other useful links/books to recommend, it will be appreciated.

This upcoming Christmas is going to be the first one where I am away from my family and loved ones back in my hometown. Damn work and not getting time off! =/ But, I'm going to try and make the best of it, and to do so, I NEED to have a tree! A real one, as I've never not had a real Christmas tree.
But I have absolutely no ornaments here at all, and I'm sure I could get my Mum to mail out some of mine that are at my Dad's house, but I figure... I could make some, too!
So my question to you all, is do you know of any awesome ornament type craftiness? I don't have rules about what goes on my Christmas tree [certain colours, etc] so pretty much anything is fair game. Though I don't want to be spending too much money on it!
Cheers, and thanks!

Ok. This is probably a silly quesion - I'm a fairly new crocheter, I'd say probably an advanced beginer. One thing I'm really having a problem with is crochet in the round. Whenever I make a hat or a bag in the round (not in the spiral) I have a funny ridge where my slip knot connects with the beginning of the round. Is this just par for the course when crocheting in the round, or am I doing something wrong? It's a bit annoying, because I have these nice hats in the front with an ugly seam in the back. Any Advice?
Thanks!
Thanks!

( CD book )
Some of the pictures are a bit blurry because I only had my webcam to work from today. You can sort of see the back of the book in the first pic, where it's hanging. I made this for my friend for Christmas - it's two of my favourite poems - "It's Time to Find a Place" by Eunice De Souza and "Forgotten Language" by Shel Silverstein. It's the first time I've ever made any kind of book, so I'm rather pleased with how it turned out :)

i'm interested in getting involved with vinyl, it seems like an interesting medium.
i know what i'm doing when it comes to a sewing machine, so i want to start by
making a wallet for my secret santa. or maybe a purse. i'm not sure. but something
cute. i'll probably make my own patter for the wallet, but if anyone knows of some
good tutorials out there i could look at for some help that would be really helpful.
also, where is a good place to get fun colored, not so bulky, relatively inexpensive
vinyl? i haven't seen any at my local michaels, but i also can't say i've looked really
hard. thanks for any help!!!
(also, if anyone has any cheap, cute, smaller secret santa gifts to give that would be
so helpful! i know everyone asks this all the time so sorry! :-\)

I made this using a couple of the 78s i bought the other day. pages inside are just black cardstock, i cut them into circles...that took the most time! drilled a couple holes and tied it up with ribbon. i tried using a thick gauge of wire, but it wouldn't open and shut easily. it's an Xmas gift for my friend who is a musician and music lover :)

New crafter post!
Nov. 27th, 2005 09:41 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Hi! I am a long-time lurker who has only been crafting for about 1-1.5 years. I'm 21, from Worcester, MA. I have lots of stuff to post, but I figured I'd post some Christmas crafts to liven up our holiday spirit on craftgrrl! Maybe tomorrow I will post some pictures of my scrapbooking pages or knitting FOs.
Here are some holiday cards and tree ornaments I made this weekend! The cards are made from cardstock with acrylic paint, scrapbooking paper, and gold/silver brads. The tree ornaments are cut from wood and painted w/acrylics.

The Tara Bracelet
This is another bracelet I made as a gift tonight. Black, gold and clear beads are strung along a line with a lobster closure. It's elegant, yet not too dressy that she can't wear it with her casual workwear.
mostly non-jewelery creations..

Favor and question
Nov. 27th, 2005 11:51 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Merry upcoming Christmas, craftgrrls who celebrate it! To those who celebrate other things, Merry What-You-Celebrate! And to those who celebrate nothing, well, Merry days ahead! :)
That said, I've got a favor to ask and a question, and answers to both or either can help me with things I'll be making as Christmas gifts! :)
The favor is this - I'm doing a scrapbook/altered book type thing (my first time ever doing such a thing) for a friend, and the running theme is going to be "Pieces of..." - I want to have a recurring puzzle-piece motif running throughout the book. Trouble is, I cant find any decent puzzle piece images via Google or Blingo or anything! I was wondering if any of you ladies might have such images handy, or possibly if you've got a jigsaw puzzle handy, maybe you could trace around the edge of some pieces and send me the images? That would be so swell. :) Thanks in advance!!
The question is - Does anyone have any idea how I'd go about adhering some of those flat wood cutouts to the cover of a fabric covered, and a regular hardback book, and also to the paper pages inside? Would wood glue be best, or would Elmers suffice, or would something else be better? Any help is appreciated. :)
