I looked in the memories and I couldn't really find anything to help me. How would I go about turning a pair of flares into a pair of straight-legged jeans?

thanks in advance!

Well, well. So for the past week I've been working on this blanket that I was making for my boyfriend for christmas, and it's really the first thing I've sewn since probably seventh grade (being a college student now, it's been awhile)... and.. just wanted to show you how it came out since i am pretty damn proud of this.. it's completely hand sewn since i do not have a sewing machine, so... yeah.

Tigerrrr! )

Enjoy!

Hand Looms

I have these 4 hand looms that are 6 sided and have pegs...the shape is I guess a hexagon...it is six sided. I have seen them in sqares and rectangle too. I think they may be called honeycomb looms and you do honeycombing weaving. I have no clue what I am talking about but would like to try to learn what they are for. Sure hope someone can help me! Beats the heck out of me how to use them...anyone know and can send me in the right direction? Thanks

A simple yarn question: Where?

I've been given cash specificially for buying fine yarns (yay for christmas!)- And I'm looking for unique, handspun/handdyed yarns. I've googled, but it's so general. I was wondering if you guys have any seller sites you frequent?

Mods, if this isn't allowed, delete away, and apologies.

so. christmas. totally an awesome holiday. bringing family together to celebrate the birth of christ, and also a wonderful chance for santa claus to bring presents. santa claus brought me the greatest invention in homework procrastination, a sewing machine of my own! i guess "santa" was tired of me using her machine.

here's my darling machine, works like a charm. the threading process is simple enough for me to do on my own, and if i forget how, there are pictures on my machine to guide me. it's amazing.

and then, my first project on my new machine was, of course, a tote bag. gotta love making tote bags.

i really dislike snow that is frozen so solid that you can slide across the top of the snow. i wish it was nice and fluffy so i could build a snowman.

Hello,
I just wanted to share some projects I recently completed. :)

A close-up of a scarf I made for a friend. This was my first attempt at making a scarf.

I'm looking for something that you can record your voice and sew into a stuffed animal. I know they offer something like this at Build a Bear, but I don't want one of their bears. Not having any luck online, but perhaps I'm not phrasing it right.

Christmas came and of course I wanted so badly to have a bag to match a beautiful new pair of boots I bought. Unfortunately I didn't finish it in time to go to my gathering in the evening, however, I finished it this morn & i'm pretty proud of it. In case you can't tell, it's an oversized slouchy bag/purse. I altered my pattern so that it would be ultra roomy.

itchy hemp

my sister made me a lovely beaded hemp choker, but when I put it on, it makes my neck itch terribly after an hour. is there any way to soften it up a bit and make it more wearable?

Now that Christmas is over, I can post the things I made for gifts without worry that one of the recipients will see...lol

All of these were hand sewn (needle and thread - no machine) and no patterns (I can't read them anyways) - I just made them up, and started cutting and sewing. Good thing they turned out! lol ;)

lots of pix! )

I was looking around at Craftster.org and came across this: http://www.ecoist.com/index.asp

super nifty bags. They're awfully expensive though so I wanted to make my own, better start collecting wrappers! You could probably even make one out of wrapping paper. just a thought.

oh!, and I bought some more felt. and if there's a Hobby Lobby in your town, there's a BUTTLOAD of colors to choose from and sheets are 7/$1! I've bought some at walmart and Jo Ann for 20 cents a sheet.

I just thought that those of you in Australia might want to know that Spotlight is having a sale tomorrow on the 27th which includes 50% off all patterns. I am not sure if it is nation wide but definatly in NWS.

Happy Holidays :)
