My friend and I went to WalMart last night and this is what we bought:
+ Simplicity purse outline trace things
+ 1 5/8 yard of fabric (100% cotton)
+ 1 5/8 yard of mediumweight fusible
+ thread
= Supplies. )

I've read through the FAQs and saw that the fusible was meant to make the purse sturdier. This is my question: Do I put the fusible stuff on [the inside of the purse] BEFORE we do all the cutting and tracing? I think that's a really dumb question but I just wanted to be sure before I did anything. I didn't know if it'd make it harder to sew through (we're hand sewing) or anything like that.

Sorry, we made purses from tank tops before and this is our first time trying the fabric. Haha. We'll see how this goes.

Thanks in advance.

Hey,
I posted a while back asking for advise on how resin reacted with paper...
I though now that I would post my results...as its only fair right?
I can add a picture of the whole project, but its more art than craft, so here's a lcose up of what happened:

it worked *GREAT*! it is newspaper and the resin made it harder (not solid) but also looked like it had been kind of chewed on and partially digested. Fabulous!!

thanks again everyone!

edited to add:
for those of you who do work with resin...what do you use to vent your fumes? do you just work outside? this is seriously toxis stuff and i had real problems with it! even the low odor one which i purchased afterwards warns of the need for adequate venting..

Does anyone make/paint tiles? I really want to get one to mark where I buried my little duck, Princess Peach. I want it with a peach one it and saying something like "Rest In Peace Princess Peach" or something more sweet/clever/original if you can think of anything. :(

Are there "rules" against using houseware fabrics for clothing? A lot of the fabric "designated" for clothing is REALLY boring/ugly/or way-too-expensive-for-what-it-is at my local Fabricland. They're having a sale right now and I can get some cool looking stuff for $5/m or less. . .but is there any problems that could occur?
I know, it seems kind of silly to ask, but I'd rather find out now then later after I've bought it.

ok so i looked in the memories and found nothing about bleaching.

IF i were to bleach a pair of black chucks, what colour would they turn out? dingy brownish, like what happens when you accidentally spill bleach on black things, or would it fade to grey? the brown is what i WANT it to turn out.

i REALLY dont wanna test it, because theyre pretty new, i only wore em a couple months and i got them for my birthday...so if anyones done this, could you please tell me what happened?

Has anyone ever used the Lion Brand US 50 Speed Stix? I just bought a pair today and I started knitting a swatch with it and they are way to bulky for my liking. Does anyone have any tips for using them? Or had any succes inn knitting a scarf in and hour or less with these things? I dunno I guess I have to sit down with them and actually try to figure them out. theheh!

Also does anyone have a simple knitting pattern for an afghan? Im curiouse to what size kneedles Ill need plus skeins of yarn and all that fun stuiff. I wanted to make one in red and white for when I go off to college.

Thanks kids!

I was browsing around on the net for something and inevitably got sidetracked. I ended up looking at stuff on CookiePots.com and saw a Honey-Do Belt. It got me thinking that something even more welcome would be a Honey-Do-Me Belt - full of fun things like lubricant, warming oil, feather tickler, vibrator, etc. I, unfortunately, won't get to be with my Honey for Valentine's Day, but thought maybe some of you might take this idea and run with it.

I have a black spandex egg chair and I want to spruce it up some.
At first I was going to paint zebra stripes on it. But then I realized any kind of paint I put on it is going to crack.
So I have a new idea. I want to buy orange fuzzy fabric and make a cover for it. Like with an elastic band around the edge, or something like that. Since it's polyester, it forms to your body shape when you sit in it.
So I was wondering how I could go about this. Would I need to use more fabric than a normal fabric cover since the chair stretches when you sit in it?

Hopefully that makes sense.
Thanks!

So the school has a fashion show coming up, and my friend Katie is in it showing off a zoodie that she made. She wanted a little pizzaz, so she asked me to stencil on some wings.

I'm really interested in making all these little fimo clay projects people have. What would I need exactly to go about doing it though? Obviously the clay.... and little metal loops to make them in to charms? Is that all the materials I would need? Thanks!

Made while I watched Grey's Anatomy because I really am just that cool (the material was cut before I started watching the show, however, but I did thread my needle during commericals).

And because you really want to see pictures.. )

Using my brother's scanner worked for photos of my jewelry! Now I can finally show some of my stuff! Yay! A couple of my pieces came from a couple ideas from other crafters on this community. Lets see if they can pick them out :) (image heavy!)

hey I'm pretty new, but I have a marble notebook that's completely blank.
I really wanna be creative/artsy with it and fill it completely with like quotes and pictures and drawings and stuff but I'm looking for ideas. Maybe it could have a theme to it and if so what? I really don't have any great ideas & input would be great

Finally had the inspiration to end my pause from making jewelry and came up with this. I used a silver-plated thick chain much like a carm bracelet chain, and added faceted czech-beads. You can't tell from the picture, but the darker drops are actually green AB with undertones of purple when it sparkles.

I'm so hooked on knitting. Only been doing it for 2 or 3 months now but I can't stop! At first I learned to crochet, and it's fine for blankets and big things, but I just kept getting so aggravated with it so I learned how to knit. I think this is my thing now...I've got a long way to go but you have to start somewhere.

My current project is a feather and fan scarf. When I saw the pattern I fell in LOVE but thought it would be way too hard for me to do yet, but I was surprised to find out I could. This is my favorite yarn I've ever bought, my camera/lighting sucks but it's sooo pretty and bright in person. Anyway, onto the scarf! )

My boyfriend's grandma recently fainted and fell, cut her arm when she did and bummed up her leg. She had to go to the nursing home for rehab and they were treating her really bad, so I knitted her a kitty to help cheer her up! She ended up naming it after me, awww. :) (The pattern for it is here, BTW) So, here's kitty. Meow meow! )

My mom has to have some surgery soon and by then I'll have a set of DPNs, I plan on trying the pixie hat from Knit Wit while I'm there. She thinks it's pretty funny looking so it'll make a nice get well soon present.
