This will be mine. Used, refurbished, put a down payment on it yesterday, being sold to me for $499 + tax. Which is about $150 less than the best pre-shipping price on eBay. My grandmother spends so much at the local sewing machine shop that anyone who is related to her, a friend of hers, or a friend of a relative gets a discount. I have no complaints about this policy.

My grandmother has one of these, but I'm pretty sure she's never used it to embroider yet. (The built in decorative stitches and the automatic buttonholer rock, though.) I know that the cards with designs are expensive, but there are supposed to be cheap internet sites for them? And there are various devices to load your own embroidery designs, and some sort of thing so that it takes all formats not just brand specific ones? Anyone know anything about this? I'm hoping to know what kind of accessories I should shoot for by the time I've paid off the thing and brought it home.

ok. a friend posed me with this question and well i thought i'd run it by you guys since my only idea was spraying it with spray shelac...

"hey, you, creativity connoisseur...i have a question you just might be able to answer. the purse i've been carrying around lately has an interior made of woven hemp that used to have a sort of plastic-y protective barrier that has peeled completely off. any idea what i could do to fix that? is there an iron-on something i could use, or do i just need to sew some fabric onto the inside. you're so good at these things."

hey y'all!

i recently started sewing, and i am really enjoying it, but i have a question i'm hoping you can answer for me.....

i'm making a dress, and i changed the neckline, so now the pieces that would go on the inside don't fit, and my question is, can i just make a 3/4" hem along the neckline and be done with it? i guess since i have no real sewing knowledge, i just learned from watching mom, i don't understand WHY that piece has to be there.....i did ask mom and she said stability, but then couldn't really elaborate. i'm not trying to be difficult, i just like to understand why i have to do it.....

any imput would be great, and hopefully i will post photos when i'm done because this dress is totally rad. (and yes, the pattern on the material forces me to bring back "rad")

Behold, the power of paper! In addition to making some Valentine cards, I ganked an idea from ReadyMade Magazine and made my girlie a little book "52 Things I Love About You."

Card with a cut out window and the 52 Things book. clicky to see some of the 52 things )

i'm struggling to find a french/ballet word to use in an earring description. when you tendue to the front (en avant i think?), then to the side (a la seconde), then to the back - what is that called? i have words like en dedans and en dehors in my head but i don't think they're right....and i think it's something other than derriere..... (please excuse my horrible spelling). thanks!

"Leftover Fabric Project"

Image hosting by Photobucket

I like how it turned out. I am eventually going to frame it and hang it up in my house. i thought it was a neat idea for getting rid of leftover scraps from past projects.

My latest creation: a strange mishmash of beads, buttons, leaves, and shells to make a faerielicious charm bracelet:

Not the best picture ever, but you get the idea :)

Hi, I'm SkyWookiee and I like crafts! I mostly make polymer clay/glass beads/wire jewellery and polymer clay covered/painted candy tins (by the way - do the other candy tins go into Altoid tin category?). Please let me show things I've made.

Sorry, this is text only... Alright, I have a problem. I'm making the lined tote bag from ohmystars.net, but I want it deeper than 1". When I cut the little squares in the corner, I plan on cutting them 3"x3" to make it 3" in depth. However, if I do this, will I lose 3" in HEIGHT from my bag? Like, if it was supposed to be 9" tall, would it shrink to 6" by doing this? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
