[livejournal.com profile] juushika posted a really cool idea in a comment to a recent post about what to do with slim CD cases. I loved the idea so much, and needed to write a friend/send off a mix CD, that I jumped on the idea and whipped it up this afternoon.

Dippy and cute. Hooray. 3 pictures! )

Hey Crafty Ladies!

I just bought a secondhand sewing machine-- the problem: no power/pedal cord came with it! It's a 1980s (I'm guessing) JCPenney brand sewing machine. I got it for $1, so I figure, if I can't find the match, no problemo. Do any of out have experience finding missing sewing machine cords? It should have three prongs lined up side-by-side. Any ideas?

I saw a pretty sweater with some flowers and leaves appliqued on it. Here's a picture of something like it...
http://www.pinkstripessf.com/img/products/1040035_applq_cardigan_pink.jpg

So my question is this: Could I make the applique with felt? I know I can't put it in the washer anymore, but can I dry-clean it??

So I have been ogling various button makers lately, and it never even occured to me that there mgiht be a way to assemble buttons wihtout the use of a machine. Does anyone know of such a possibility?
[identity profile] facemelt.livejournal.com
Alright so.
Me & my current blokey talk online quite often, along with phone, or when neither of us have credit, Gizmo (the open-source versioin of Skype).
I saved every conversation we ever had from the moment we met on MSN to today - I've put the spoken conversations onto CDs but I want to do something with the chatlogs.
I was thinking maybe I could print them off and document them - but I'm out of ideas of how to make it look good.
Suggestions?

I cannot wait for full-fledged spring and then SUMMER, seriously. Here is a skirt I whipped up today in about an hour :-) Since I first laid my eyes on this fabric, I knew I needed it and it needed to become a skirt.. I got some for a camisole as well - I will be whipping one of those up very shortly :-) I am so VERY much in love with this material and I love how it feels, yay for skirts!

Question

I know its been awhile since I've posted or really even commented, its just been so busy lately. I'll try to post pics of some things soon.

But I did want to ask...
I have these sticker paper sheets so you can print out your own bumper stickers, but you need to put some kind of protective coating. I don't want to use something like shellac that gets really hard, but contact paper didn't work (it ended up crackling after a couple of months). Anyone have any other ideas of what I can use to coat it that would withstand various weather (especially rain and heat; I live in Texas)?

Hey babes,

i've got too many earrings and I need a crafty way to store them! I know there are tons of methods using records, wire mesh etc to make a earring frame but i would like to keep my earrings in an enclosed space (I don't like my earrings dusty...). I reckon i've got about 100 pairs of earrings both dangling and studs.. any recommendations?

I used scraps I had lying around, and I designed it myself. It isn't perfect, but it's functional and cute.

Hooray for finishing projects!

I need/want/desire a crinoline of some bright and snazzy color. But. I went to Portland today and dragged my cookies all over town to the various buffalos and redlights ( sorry those of you not familiar with trendy portland stores) and couldn't find any reasonably priced ones. And I'm miserly. I was thinking i could make one though...does anyone have a pattern or know how one goes about this?

P.S. Sorry this is text only..i'm still working on the skeleton earring holder deal.

Whoooo I made purses today... haha pics arent up to my usual quality... sorry! These were just snapped with a flash in my room on my door. I based em off of the jordy purse tute on craftster.

Pics back here! )

Made from random fabric/buttons I had laying around. Btw - the nursery rhyme fabric is from Repro Depot. And no I dont plan on selling these, they are mine. X3 As for selling of future purses... maybe... but Im kinda iffy on it since I would rather do clothing and leave the purses to the purse experts (mine arent anything special).

Hi! :0) I am brandy new to crochet, and what I am really interested in is Amigurumi. I have seen it so much, and what I really want to know is if there are any books or any thign to help me get started with that stuff. I see things on here and I'm so inspired! What is the best way to go about starting this? Are there any good books/tutorials? Or is it just 'wingin' it? Any tips or suggestions? Anything would be greatly appreciated! Even just a more formal explination of it.

TIA!

Tara

I have some brass craft rings that I am trying to tarnish to an antique brass look. I went through the memories and found an article on copper but nothing for brass. Possibly the same solutions work for both but I wanted to see if anyone has any good household ideas specifically for brass. I have been using Drano which seems to be doing the trick but it is going slowly and the rings are not entirely consistant. Is there also anyway to dull/break down stainless steel? "Stainless" is the problem. ;) Thanks for your suggestions and ideas!

I just recently threw a baby shower for my friend at the end of February. I used it as an excuse to try all kinds of new crafts. A bit picture heavy.

A tent

This is a tent I made for my kids for Valentine's Day. I'm just now getting to posting. But my three year old son is always putting a blanket over the almost 1 year old and asking her to come into his "tent". So I figured I would make them a real tent. This turned out much larger than I had anticipated but I wanted to use the rest of the material left from the roman shades I made for their playroom. My son was especially thrilled when he saw it and that made my day. My house is kind of small so I really couldn't get a decent shot of the tent. But here it is:

Alright, I have a issue.

I have a vinyl kid's suitcase that I adore, the colors are so cute! But there's this image printed on the front..is there anyway I can get rid of the image without ruining the whole thing? It's painted on, if you could call it that.
