I have a ton of those plastic tops for baby bottles. (You know, the ones that go over the nipple of the bottle when you aren't using it) They are see through pink, blue and green. I don't want to throw them away, but I don't have any ideas for them.

It's a sewing kit. I made this with a little voodoo doll, but I think I'm going to make a zombie next. Zombies are awesome.

I'll name her Cindy the Zombie )

We have a craft show in St. Louis this weekend and I'm also submitting photos to see if I can join the Art in the Park festival in September. Who knows what my odds will be of getting in, but it can't hurt to try!

Anyway, this is what I've spent the last week playing with:

More pictures in here! )

If anyone has done juried shows, I'd love some feedback on if these are the kinds of photos I'm supposed to be sending in, because I'm really just guessing here! :P

I bought a bunch of bracelet memory wire on a whim, since I hadn't worked with the stuff since seventh grade or so. I forgot how much fun it is!

I'm sorry if this isn't entirely craft related, but...

I spilled a huge blob of rubber cement on my comforter. (Think 3/4 of a bottle!) I wiped off as much as I could, and then put it in the washing machine. Now it's even worse!

Does anyone know how I can get this stuff off? I'm out of ideas. I'll try anything at this point. Thanks!

but here's the deal.
i was supposed to have my baby in may - and i just had him.
i was thinking (hoping) to make his baby announcement on a onesie - yknow
name:
time
weight
all that jazz

and i'm stuck. i reversed the image printed it out and i'm ready to iron it on and it's not working - it's the kind with the pink and blue stripe on the back (i know that much - that it's the back) and i read about working on a pillowcase and so on but even in the ones where it's semi-working - the colors are BLAH!!!! (and i'm using one color!)

pull the paper hot or cold/move the iron/TIPS TIPS TIPS!!!!! please.

OK, I just bought a laptop and I'm thinking about using the fabric I bought to make a purse to make a messenger bag for my computer. (my sister bought me a cute purse for my birthday, so I really don't need one anymore. :D

Anyway, I was wondering what you would recommend I use for padding. I want it to be thick, maybe like the shoulder pads on good backpacks. It's gotta be able to take wear (like bouncing when I'm walking). Any ideas??

my fabric stash is getting low. i'm looking for online locations to purchase exciting fabric in crazy prints.

where do you usually get awesome fabric online?

i usually go to reprodepot (even though it's kind of pricey) but nothing is jumping out at me today and i really want to get some new fabric.

How can you get lots of scratches off of silver? Is a buffing machine good for that?
[identity profile] look-closer.livejournal.com
ok, i apologize if this has been covered... i know there has been a lot of discussion on painting and/or decoupaging shoes recently, but i looked backwards and couldn't find this: what type of paint do you recommend using to paint shoes? in this case, a synthetic "leather" material. and, even if i will only be painting, should i still sand the shoes first?

any other advice? thanks!

since the paper i got had no instructions since it came from a VERY KIND craftgrrl herself - this is what i have been doing.
1. made my image
2. reversed it (since it's all words)
3. increased the quality of the printer
4. printed it on the side without the lines
5. cut it out as close as possible to the design
6. iron is already HOTTT!!!!!
7. but whether i do it for 15 seconds and let it cool, 20 seconds and let it go half-way - or everyway in between it will not work.
8. i know i'm doing something wrong.

(back up to 6 - i iron on the side with the lines obviously - but still looks NOTHING like the original or doesn't take at all.
walk me through your steps!!!

mwah t!

Hi, I just joined. Thought I'd post a little intro. My name is Jessica, I work in a fabric/craft store in Seattle. I sew, make jewelry, do some knitting, paint, all that good stuff. I am an all around DIY person. :-) This seems like a fun community, with lots of other creative people to get all kinds of inspiration from. I don't have pictures of much of my stuff (although I have tons of stuff that I make), but here is somthing I just finished making for my boyfreind for his birthday. I will probably compile some more pics of stuff I made. Here is this for now;

I'm looking for recomendations on a place to buy suede or thin leather of the sort that a pair of old fashioned ladies gloves would be made out of...

After years of trying, I finally learned how to juggle (as in a couple of hours ago hehe) and I'm interested in making my own juggling balls. I have some friends who are very into this so I've had a chance to use a bunch of different types, but the kind I want cost about $11 or more each and don't come in the colors I want. I'm hoping I can make them for less than this or at least make them in the color I want for not too much more than this :)
I have never bought leather in my life though and have no idea where to try and buy it or what to search for. Ideally, I'd like them to be made out of light colored (white, tan, whatever) very thin flexible leather. The only places I've ever really encountered leather like this are in juggling balls and in old fashined ladies dress gloves. What is ths kind of leather called? and where could I get it?

a link to the balls I am sort of trying to mimic is here: http://www.higginsbrothers.com/buyelite.htm
the only difference is that, in a perfect world, I would prefer that glove-like leather to suede. and I want them to be a solid color.
