I recently used paint markers to draw on a pillow for my boyfriend. He's been sleeping with it on his bed for more than two months.

I thought that after the paint dried, any safety hazards it posed would disappear (since the xylene solvent would have dried). But the paint, originally metallic gold, has turned green. Is there anything to be worried about? Are there toxins coming from the paint? Am I causing serious brain damage?!?! Help!!

hey - a little while ago i posted a pic of some hair clippies i made (pic). they were made from bead halves (glass beads) glued onto those cheap metal clips you can buy at dollar stores. don't know what kind of metal it is. i used super glue - the gel kind that is supposed to bond really good even when you have a slightly uneven surface (it fills in the gaps or something?) - well, the beads didn't stay on. some of them fell off as soon as i tried to open the clips; the rest were *very* easily pulled off.

what's the right glue to use to bond glass to metal?

Bags/Purses

My first post! I'm a long time lurker, but I finally got my first real sewing machine (well, first sewing machine ever actually).

And I used a pattern for the first purse, the second one I used some tutorials off of craftster (like the zipper and inside pocket). Both of these were made with shower curtains and inexpensive fabric bought at wal-mart.

Onto the pictures (and they aren't great, but I'm proud of myself because they are my first EVER projects on a sewing machine):

Okay, does anyone know where I can get metal studs?

I've got a bunch that I got off my roommate's hot topic belt that broke (the square/pyramid style) but I'm looking for more of the conical spike style, found on your more hardcore punkish items...

Any ideas?

Help!

I DIDN'T MAKE THIS! haha

Does anyone know where I can get a pattern for something similar to this purse? The main parts that I'd like to know how to do are the middle of the fan, and some sort of decorative stitch for the lower part. I can free-hand a handle, etc.

Thanks!

I made this baby quilt for my childbearing pal [livejournal.com profile] teaone. She's having a little (she hopes) boy. I gave it to her today and she really liked it! Huzzah.

ok, here's what i did today. the one with blue flowers seems to need something - some bulkier spacer beads in the matching dark blue maybe? i will probably make some tomorrow and re-string it. the one with the shell spacers - i don't know if i like or not! it seems to be growing on me though.

Lately I've been trying to go through my closet,
pick out the items I never wear & try to make them wearable.
Here's what I've been up to this week ~

Hello everyone,
I’ve got a quick question...
I made a hat for my brother, an oversized painter’s beret kind of thing, and used medium weight interfacing in it.
But it’s too stiff and "crunchy" and really doesn't look right.
I was wondering if there was any easy way to fix it?
Like will putting it through the wash wear it out a bit?
Or will I have to pull it all apart and use a lighter weight?

Thanks

(I’ll share pictures soon, once I finish another hat for myself.)

Also while I am on the subject of hats, does anyone have any patterns or tips for making a Top Hat?

Here are a couple of things I've made recently. My camera isn't that great, but hopefully you'll be able to get the idea. :)

I was trying to think of something to make my friend for her birthday last Sunday, and she likes elephants and the color pink so I decided to make her a pink elephant out of clay.

So I practiced by making a kitty...then decided that this was addictive and made the elephant, a panda, a bat, and a fox:

The bat was supposed to be a flying pig...but I forgot his snout...yeah... O_o

I had little figures like this when I was little (A fox was one. ^_^) I think they were from a Noah's Ark playset or something...the girl animals had big eyelashes. ^__^ That's was gave me the idea. Especially for the fox.

Way it go Noah! Your Ark rocks. ^__^

I know this may be an OT post but I'm really at my wits end here and I could appreciate all the help I can get. If the mod doesn't like this post, I'll remove it without a fuss.

I need help in creating a self-promotional piece that will catch and keep the interest of a client or potential employer. I kinda came up with the idea of making a pyramid origami box or some sort of box that'll have a business card, a cd with a pdf of my work on it. I'm not so sure about it anymore and I'm really stressing out here.

So please, ladies (and gentlemen), can you spare me some inspiration?
