I made this monster pocketbook after seeing a similar one on ebay but not having the money to bid on it. I forgot who it was that was selling it though so I can't credit the idea! Anyway I think these are just adorable and I'm going to make some more, while trying to make the sewing a little neater around the eyes! Oh and she needs a name, any ideas?

Finally, I have a camera and can put up pictures and actually contribute to this community that I've been lurking around! Hehe, I recently got a job at a bead store and I was so excited to be able to make this for myself. It's nothing fancy, but me and my boyfriend are planning a trip to the beach within the next few weeks and I wanted something kinda beach-y. So, here is my lovely little creation, the first of many items yet to come!

Okay, so the boyfriend's birthday is coming up. By coming up, I mean October, but believe me when I say I need a lot of time to come up with gift ideas!

Anyway, my crazy man has always aspired to have his very own hammock, to lounge in style along the Wexican coast. If you've never had the pleasure of meeting a real live Wexican, you probably won't really understand how seriously they take their R&R, but it's not something you should mess with! However, himself hasn't bought himself one because... well, I don't know why, but it's given me an idea so I'm not complaining:~

Does anyone have experience or even a pattern when it comes to making a hammock? I figure I could customise it pretty well, but actually making one first is the challenge. Any help would be appreciated, this idea just came to me last night when I can't say I was at my sanest. Do you guys think it's doable?

EDIT: I apologise for my ignorance if the word Wexican is an insult somewhere in the world. I didn't think anyone outside Co. Wexford used the term at all O____o See the comments for an explanation, it doesn't mean anything bad in Ireland!

I'm sorry this is only a question and delete if you feel necessary but I could use some help.
I bought Shrinky Dinks today at a craft store but they weren't what I expected. They're flat and while the one side is clear and smooth, the other side is a whiteish paper (I think you all have an idea what I'm talking about).
Now.. this may sound completely silly but when I cook them and they shrink, will they stay completely flat? I had the thought in my head that they were slightly thicker than what they are now, which seems like a slice of paper. Are there other brands where the material is a few centimeters thick instead of paper like?
Also, if I don't put colour on it, does the finished product come out completely clear or does it come out completely white or does the stay out it is, with a white paperly look on one side and clear on the other?
I'll post some pictures if that'll help make my questions more clear but if anyone has some words of advice, I could really use it!
Thank you! <3
(and ps. I did look in the memories about Shrinky Dinks but they didn't really help.. at all. The one entry where someone made a 3D cat and cow is kind of what my Shrinky Dink paper looks like but those animals are thick (which is one of my questions) so I wasn't sure if it was the same).

I found a butterfly pattern on a fabric I liked, so I bought it and made another bag like the one in my previous post. I used a different liner material this time, something a bit silkier, and a cute butterfly button. I never thought I'd like a big bag, but I like these, and they seem to work out well for carrying the things I need, as well as a few other items like a crochet project or a book. I also crocheted another cozy for my phone to go with this bag. I used beads on this one. I think I'm going to play with it a bit more and write the pattern out so I'll have it for future reference.

Seems I like cute and pink these days...oh, and of course, butterflies!

Okay, I checked out all the memories for sewing machines, and they were pretty helpful. But they are all like one step ahead of where I am with my sewing machine.
I have never used or seen anyone use a one before, so finding info has been a bit difficult because I don't really know what I am looking for.
I have finally figured out how to thread up my sewing machine, but I'm not sure how to get started. I threaded the top, but I don't know where the thread from the bobbin should go so that it will line up with the top thread. (I know this is probably a little hard to follow as I don't know the terminology.)
I hope I'm clear enough for you guys to understand me!

hey dudes -

in the midst of making my wedding invites and I haven't really found any paper stores in my area that tickle my fancy. Any online reccomendations? Preferably a store that carries treeless paper....

I have a ton (something like a dozen, actually) of those old Samsonite traincases and I am (slowly, but surely!) doing makeovers on them.
As a matter of fact, I want to make one for myself for ... my unmentionable toys. ;)
I would like to cover it in vinyl and maribou, eventually making it look like it has been corsetted up, if that makes any sense. Unfotunately, I can't seem to find a way to get the vinyl to stick to the train case... The vinyl is fabric-backed, but that is not helping things out any. :( I even tried out Gorilla Glue, to no avail.
My other issue is the maribou. I want it to stick to the case, but not stick together.
The only part that I *do* have under control is the corsetting part... except that I can't make everything line up straight.
*giggles at herself*
Can anyone help out here? :)

Does anyone else see making a mixed CD to be a craft?

This is made of three old pieces of jewelry- the flat etched metal is from a heinous old earring, the curved silver tubes are from two vending machine bracelets, and the chain in back is from a broken necklace. The beads and findings were mine already.

I made over this vintage train case for a friend of mine in Oz...
I have several more (dear lord, do I have several more!), but I haven't remade them over because I don't have homes to send them to.
I'm a little train case... )

Comic Book

I'm interested in making a comic book for my boyfriend's birthday based on the story of how we met and our relationship. The problem is I'm not sure how to start. I know that a few of you have made comic books in the past and I am looking for tips. Should I hand-draw it? I'm not a very good artist and drawing us would be kind of difficult. I've looked online for comic book creators but couldn't really find anything suitable. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

ok, i have this beautiful piece of silk fabric i got at a yard sale, its fuschia with a gold embroidery pattern all over it. i want to do *something* with it but it's so nice that i don't want to mess it up. any ideas? sewing, draping, or otherwise? it's about 2-3 yards long, about a yard wide i think? my mom thinks it will be tricky to sew certain things with because of the unravelly nature of the material.

okay, a little while ago i posted a lollipop camera case i made for a friend, and someone asked for a tutorial on how to put together a case like that one. my boyfriend asked for a similar case for his nintendo ds(lite), so i figured i could put together some sort of picture-how-to while i put his case together. here is what i came up with.

some kind of tutorial for a camera/ipod/nintendo ds/whatever you want case )

i apologize if this wasn't at all helpful, but i tried. if anything confuses anybody, feel free to ask. and thanks for looking.

Hi. I've been lurking for quite a while (almost a year) and I've been meaning to post up a bunch of crafts but ended up procrastinating for one reason or another. But after graduation, I have time and no reason to procrastinate! So without further ado, things I made for my senior prom:

Everything but the dress and the shoes. )
