It's been months since I knitted and now I'm in the knitting mood! I just took out my yarn from my stash when I realized that I forgot how to wind my yarn ;_;

Anyone know how to do this w/o having a big mess of knots to contend with later? Mind you, I don't want to go out and buy a yarn winder.

It's the season to start talking about Halloween costumes, so I thought I'd get started. My daughter wants to be Wednesday Adams for Halloween. But when we saw the store bought costumes, she thought they were lame and wants me to make her one. Now, she's 14 and taller than I am, not a little girl, so I need suggestions for any sort of pattern that would make a good dress like that in a women's size. Especially if anyone has tried any of the patterns with good results. Any ideas?

What is everyone planning as their Halloween costume this year?

What is the best Halloween costume you have ever had?

and,

What is the best Halloween costume you have ever seen?

I know this is a very basic post but I think if a lot of people reply it will be very beneficial as an idea-booster for everyone.

so, this is a little crazy.

but i love halloween and am a little strapped for cash, and an earlier post mentioning all hallows eve got me to thinking.

my 21st birthday is 10/24, so i often do something halloweenie for my b-day. i wanna go to a bar or something, i'm thinking. enter costume contests maybe. so i want something awesome.

don't have the money for lots of fabric, and was at walmart thinking. 'hmm. these are really pretty, but cheap, curtains. MISS KATIE SCARLETT O'HARA MADE A DRESS OF CURTAINS!'

so the point is i wanna make that green dress. the scarlett o'hara curatin dress. it's a big southern belle dress for those not in the know.

now i'm not a brilliant seamstress by any means, but i've made a couple complicated things like lined purses and jackets, and spandex catsuits. so i'm wondering, is this an absolutely bat-poop crazy idea?

or could i manage it with some walmart curtains and maybe a hula hoop?

any suggestions, ideas, money-saving tips, or pictures from anyone who's made something similar are greatly appreciated!! thank you!

(sorry for the text-only. i'll post some crafty things when i get home. ^_^)

Okay, so I'm a huge fan of Toxic Vision's work, but I could never, ever actually afford anything she makes. Now, a while back she made a pair of pants that I completely fell in love with, and I've decided that I want to try and make a pair myself. This is what they look like:

I've never made a pair of pants from scratch before, much less a pair like these, but I think it's time to learn. Anyone have any hints, tips, tricks or patterns to help me out?

Help?

Hi!
I will be holding an arts event soon.Any ideas on what I could/should do?
Last year we did paper mache flowers and paintings.
Something easy to teach and materials that are easily available would be great!
Thanks!

I got this one done just a bit ago. It's brass on a gold platted chain with a Swaroski crystal eye. Let me know what you think.

The pattern for the skirt I'm making calls for a lining. I could do that, or I could just put in a facing at the top to stabilize the waist, which I'm somewhat inclined to do. Is there any serious advantage to going with the lining? I have this irrational bias against them as being needlessly fussy.
