Birdy ornaments
Oct. 14th, 2006 01:48 amIt was a few weeks ago now I think that someone posted the most darling little raven bird plush for her trade buddy.
It gave me the greatest idea to make ornaments for my Xmas tree. When i moved out, I never got to pick out too many things for my home. This year I'll be prepared!
I made kind of a how to with pictures for those interested. It's really simple though so Level 1 in easy.

Slide Show!
Oct. 14th, 2006 04:00 amSo I took a TON of pics today of my stuff, and decided it would be best to show them off as a slide show, so you guys wouldn't have to wait for a gazillion pictures to load!
Below is the "teaser" slideshow, that the website says works on LJ, and if you click on it, you can see the actual one. It is Neato! Let Me know what you think! :-)

Pirate Cake
Oct. 14th, 2006 02:12 pmEvery year we have a costume party on Talk Like a Pirate Day and every year I make this cake: http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/special/cake/cake_pirateship/ Apparently every year something terrible is going to happen to it. Last year the layers didn't stick together because I forgot to put it in the freezer, so once I had it all done and frosted it just fell apart. This year it was perfect. I was on my way to the party and dropped it upsid-down on the sidewalk. I guess there's always next year...

Turtle Quilt
Oct. 14th, 2006 04:40 pmI made this quilt quite a while ago but I thought that I would share. It was for a school project, I love it when university classes let you be creative. Its about 3 feet by 2.5 feet.
My grandma taught me how to sew and quilt... this is the first project that I attempted with out her, which is why it is pretty small. I've also made one for a friend that was the same size but had a bear on it. As soon as I find the picture I'll post it.

*** Sorry! I TRIED and tried to do the LJ cut but it just wouldn't work for me...

Some advice please?
Oct. 14th, 2006 04:41 pmHello, I'm new here and this is my first post.
I need some advice. I've been practising my glass engraving on bottles, but I don't know what to do with them now.
The engraving stands out better with a dark background, but I have no idea what to do with the bottle to best display it.

Pink flowers and corduroy. Sweet.

Autumn Greenwoman Wall Hanging
Oct. 14th, 2006 07:02 pmHere is my new greenwoman mask. Created with handcast paper, that is molded into a face shape then handpainted by me. This piece is named "autumn Greenwoman" and features a face painted with acrylics an autumn leaf design, the eyes are handpainted and layered with a glossy gell fixitiave to give them a "wet" look and she even has real eye lashes! Around the edge of the mask I glued silk leaves that have been accented with colors that are in the mask. The mask is 7 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide not including the silk leaves around the edges with the leaves included the size is 10 inches by 10 inches.

costume help?
Oct. 14th, 2006 07:02 pmhello all!
so my roomies and i are dressing up for halloween as non-slutty disney princesses. we're got aurora, cinderella, jasmine and belle covered. we went and bought fabric and boning and everything and are going to begin cutting and sewing tonight as college students don't have very much free time. i promise, i'll post pics when we're all transformed.
now my question to you all is....i need to find jasmine's jewellry...her gold earrings and necklace...but most importantly her jewelled hairband and the belt thingie. but i went to michael's and jo-ann's and i could not find big enough jewelled thingies. i rememer them from when i was young..these half fake jewels that had flat backs...but they seem to have disappeared?
anyone have any idea where i can find a couple of those, preferrably not too expensively?
also, has anyone made any of these costumes at home? for adult sizes? because pictures would be lovely....at the moment we're improvising from period ball gown patterns, men's pj pants patterns and oversizing children's puff sleeves....so any help from anyone would be great!
thanks in advance!

felt cakes and fruit
Oct. 14th, 2006 07:36 pmdoes anyone know the asian website for the felt fruit and cakes. They were toys you could break apart via velcro. the cakes had icing details you could play with to make the cake tops your way. I wanted to make some play food for my daughter for christmas and the saved link to the site was deleted from my internet favorites when I moved last year. I was thinking about the site the other day and wondered if one of you gals knew the site I was talking about.
(no subject)
Oct. 14th, 2006 07:54 pmI know there is no buying/selling/tradeing of any kind on this community so if this post isnt aloud let me know so i can delete it or the mods can delete it. ^_^';;;;
.
I was wondering if anyone knew of places or LJ communites that donate arts and craft supplies? My girl scout group is low on supplies and since we are a small one we dont get many benefits we cant really ask for much. We ask for $1 dues to help pay for breakfast and lunch for the girls and we really dont want to raise the prices on them. >_<; We used to get fabric pieces and scraps from a curtain store but they are relocating and can no longer provided us with any goodies. My girls love to make things out of nothing and always present our stuff at local fairs.
Does anyone know where i can go to ask for donations for supplies?
.
again, if this post isnt really aloud im sorry, I wasnt sure where else to ask for help =(

Hi,
Anyone know how to remove rhinestones from ribbed t shirt fabric? They are attatched with glue directly on the fabric.
Thanks!

I are knitting!
Oct. 14th, 2006 10:46 pmWell, I finally got around to teaching myself how to knit and here are the results:
( 3 knitting projects and 1 non-knitting one )
Also, I have a question. I want to make some playing card type things. Making the cards is easy enough, but what can I use to coat them to preserve them and make them look professional? I guess I could laminate them, but I was wondering is there was a spray coat or something. Any recommendations?
