I want to give my boyfriend a lap thingy like this for his apartment ,because it is surprisingly devoid of flat surfaces and he needs to use his laptop alot for college. Buuuut, the only one I could find was covered in flowers and he isn't really the flowery type - unless it's my birthday ^^ So, I was going to cover the top of it with decoupage, but all I have to use is a varient of Modge Podge and I'm worried that when used, the heat of the laptop might mess up the final result. Anyone have any ideas or experience? Alternative ideas for de-flowering? Also, has anyone ever decoupaged fabric to a surface (table/book/frame/etc.)?

Go raibh mile maith agaibh!

I made a few new things this past week. Including Ice Cream Cones that just happen to hold tampons and other things of similar shape/size perfectly.

Okay, so, I'd like to do some decorating in my dorm room. I've done searches in various craft communities, but a lot of the stuff I've come up with that people do in dorms is rather garish for my tastes. I am such an ikea child: clean lines, minimalism, and that stuff... but when dorm rooms are too minimal, they look like hotel rooms or hospital rooms or something. So institutional. I can't figure out what to do to make my room feel more like MY space, as opposed to this little piece of someone else's territory that feels alien to me.

Any recommendations?

Also, is there a good thread somewhere on sewing machine buying advice? Or a guide online anyone would recommend?

Thanks!

I logged into etsy this afternoon and my earrings are featured on the homepage! (I think I previously posted a photo of them on another crafty binge!) It makes me happy and want to do cartwheels!

in other craftnews: I've discovered the Pollo Loco pattern to make chicken pin cusions that are quilted. I love them. I think everyone I know is going to get one for christmas!

I am extremely sorry for violating this community's guidelines. I did read them some time ago and I got mixed up between the communities that do authorize sales post and those that don't. I am very sorry and it won't happen again. It wasn't my intention to piss anyone off.

Truthfully,
Marivi

I also have a question for anyone who can help... does anyone own a snap press and if so where did you buy it? I just recently came across one on ebay and I'd like do a bit of research before I invest a big chunk of money on one.

Thanks in advance and I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

This week's piece was inspired by the wonderful sugar skulls of Dias de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.

ETA: Pic is now up.

So!  For my dad's birthday this year I made him a great scarf to go with a few other gifts I gave him.  I had some of the yarn left over and since his favorite football team is the Browns I had the perfect colors for a halloween theme thing.  I made a pumpkin!  I am going to try a doll I saw online somewhere and then add a few pumkins to it, but until then here is my lone pumpkin that my daughter stole from me almost as soon as I stitched the last stitch.

Edit:
A few people have asked about
the pattern.  It is a free pattern that I found looking for crochet pumpkin patterns and there is a Pumpkin Queen and a bigger sized pumpkin to go with just this little one.  All ou need is 4 oz. or yarn for the pumpkins.
