Sorry for the request only post, however, I would greatly appreciate any help available on this topic.

My dad was cleaning out the liquor cabinet and came across some old bottles of Rum from, oh maybe the 70s.
They're all set for the recycle bin, but before they go, I'd love to harvest the labels from them.
(Being a graphic designer I'm enamoured with old ephemera.)

What is the best way to remove a label (cleanly, with minimum damage to the label) from a glass surface?

Any suggestions on archiving these items once sucessfully removed?

Thanks so much everyone

in july i bought myself a new laptop, as well as a nice neoprene sleeve. when i would take my new macbook out with me, i was always a little bit bothered by moving all of my stuffs into a messenger bag - but i dealt with it. this weekend i find out that i'll be flying to a wedding soon, so naturally i had to make myself a nice case for traveling.

it fits my sleeved laptop, and has a simple flat front pocket to keep my plane tickets/ID/cards and cash handy. it's also just the right size to carry reading material for the flight.

Q. what's black & white and red all over? )

edit: "Could you talk about the crafting process?"
sure :) )

edit 2: Is it frowned upon to put a link to where folks can vote for this in the contest?

ever since the disappointment of not being able to participate in the craft show, I have been a sewing machine! I just want to make enough so that I will have a respectable stand at some craft show in the future.

(do any of you reading this live in philly, by the way??? i'd love a crafting buddy!)

Anyways, here are two of the things I made over the weekend. I am particularly proud of the wristlet. What do you all think?

very 1970's!!!

this is my favorite fabric! i made a matching purse before, but it sold real fast!

For a quilter, I'm really getting into bag making. They're fast, they're fun and they're useful all day long. What's not to like?

The colors in this fabric really grew on me as I was working on the bag.

The other day I was given a hand made salt shaker that looks like a mushroom. It is the biggest salt shaker I've ever seen. Problem is, I don't want to use it because it smells really musty inside. I've tryed washing it really, really good, soaking the whole thing in a blaech and water solution, a vinegar and water solution and as I type this, it is in a baking soda and water solution. I was thinking of trying dry coffee grounds next. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi! I just started crocheting last week, and I got to thinking about Halloween coming up. Do any of you have patterns for cloaks or robes? Google wasn't giving me much of anything (other than christening robes and such, but that's not quite what I'm going for. ^_^). Thanks!

So, some of you may remember the mittens I made for my friend Amanda, who goes to LSSU, just to cheer her up
mittens
(The other one says LSSU)
Well, shes been wearing them around campus and people are IN LOVE, she gets asked every day where she got them, and if I'd sell..

So, what do you suggest I sell them for? Like, how much?
They take me aboutt.. 4 hours-ish to make including liner.
The design would either be LS on one hand and SU on the other, or both hands with anchors.

Some people want custom mittens done too (like, one hand has a 'K' the other a 'J', and the inside palms have anchors), how much for that?

I was thinking 20ish?
I could probably make 2-3 pairs of mitts out of one bigger skein of yarn.

Thanks ladies (and some men)! I knew you could help me out on this!

Okay, I need some pictures of swallows. I've been looking online for 30 minutes and I just must not be looking in the right places. I found one image I like, but it's just not exactly what I want. Am I missing some plethera of pictures somewhere? I want pictures of the kinds of swallow drawings that people use for tattoos, NOT PICTURES of their tattoos. Anyone?

ETA:

I've already googled "Swallow Drawing", "Swallows", "Swallow Tattoos", "Bird Tattoos", etcetera ad nauseam. For an example, I really like this image, but I need larger images:

http://www.tattoosales.com/TattooFullView.aspx?productID=145

I need images of just the swallow(s) as well as swallow(s) and banner.

X-POSTED ANYWHERE COSTUME/DIY RELATED, PROBABLY.

For Halloween, I am wanting to be Judy Funnie from Doug ... Nickelodeon version, of course. I'm fine on the leggings, shirt, boots and sunglasses, but I absolutely cannot find a purple beret or sweater dress.

&

If anyone knows where I can find a purple beret or sweater dress for relatively cheap, or has a pattern to make either, please please please let me know?

Thank you.

A little five inch square painting I made.
illuminate your world

The lantern flower was inspired by some that grew in our flower beds this year. My husband's Mom calls them bubble flowers. They look like paper lanterns and then open to reveal a lovely purple flower. At night they close back up into little lanterns. I like them, and even more so because they simply appeared out of nowhere. We didn't have them last year and we didn't plant them either. They just were suddenly there. :)
