I am making a purse and am using a kind of oriental silkish kind of fabric. I was making a pocket, and the fabric started to fray. Can I use something like fraylock on this or is there another solution. It is going to be the lining of the bag, but the part on the pocket will still be visible and I don't want it to look dumb because I'm giving it to my friend for our birthday.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Here are my new earrings, I have to say I am really liking wearing them, they are really light and comfortable. They are made from mini laser prints of my artwork that I cut and laminated.

is anyone from seattle going to check out urban craft uprising next month?

on another note i found the COOLEST workspace in vancouver yesterday - blim! - it's on 17th-ish and main, right across from the ford dealership - it's a cute shop AND a place to do silkscreening, and they provide a tonne of materials and worshops, and even pre-emulsified screens to work with.

When people break plans with me, I get crafty and destroy my wardrobe. So, I made this gloomy bear shirt two nights ago.

I'm looking for patterns/inspiration for beaded snowflakes. I've seen the ones made with seed beads and long stick-like beads, but that's not what I'm looking for. I had a kit to make 6 beaded snowflakes, and I really would like to make more. However, the kit was $8 for pipe-cleaners, wire, and beads. I can make them much cheaper myself, but I'm hoping for some extra patterns/inspiration (they aren't hard to figure out), similar to the ones I have already made.

I'm needing to make 3 magic wands for a project for work. I'm not talking plastic straw/cardboard/Elmer's glue/glitter/tissue paper. I need sophisticated, adult, professional looking magic wands. I've searched for DIY magic wand making online, but everything that comes up is kid crafts that show how to make the kind of magic wand I do not want. Do any of you have links, pictures, tips, or ideas on how to make quality looking magic wands? Thank you. :)

ETA: I mean a sparkly fairy type wand, not a black and white magician wand. Sorry for any confusion.

okay i will try this again, hopefully the questions are understandable now, and i apologize if they are not.

i would like to make my own ice cube trays with custom shapes. i found this model making product, it gets baked after you shape it, but i assume that it is probably not food-safe by itself.

*is there anything that is food-safe that i can coat this product with to make it food-safe?
OR
*do you know of any relatively inexpensive silicon/rubber/plastic mold-making materials that would be food-safe that i could use instead of this product that i found?

thanks for your help and time :)

Well I got inspired by [profile] amburr's post with the kick ass painted shirt.  I busted out my paints and a plain tee shirt of mine.  To get myself in the Christmas mood, I pulled up a picture and did my own rendition of it.  I love it.  And I think I'll fix up the picture and turn it into my christmas card this year. Its too perfect not too.

I told my friend I would paint his skateboard deck for him..
I was wondering if there's a certain paint I should use or if Acryllic or Craft would be fine?!
And also if anyone has any suggestions on what to paint on it please post too.

Thanks!

I've been working on the charm part of this for a while and finally got around to stringing it all together last night. It's been a while since I've made something for myself, and I really, really love this.
