I have no idea how long ago it was, but someone posted some pictures of a few dresses they had made for their daughter or niece. They were very simple and so cute and I think they might have tied in the back? If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please link me to it.

Otherwise, I'm looking for a very simple, but cute, FREE ONLINE dress pattern or even just a picture (front & back) of a dress. I need to make it for a two year old little girl.

And about the little girl... the dress is a suprise for the mother and I have no one to get in contact with to get the child's sizes. How big are two year old girls on average? If anyone has a two year old little girl, could you give me her measurements (height, width of shoulders, armpit to armpit, around tummy)? Thanks!

A present! )

I haven't been on LJ for ages, so I hope I've posted everything right!!

I've been watching this community for a long time, but never really posted any of my own work. I don't do lots of crafts, but more scrapbook stuff. I don't much care for scrapbooking itself, but make tons of stuff like the picture above.....

Am I making sense?

Anyways, I bought a plain brown cardboard box from JoAnn's, scrapbook paper from Pebbles In My Pocket (http://pebblesinmypocket.com/ They're Utah based, so you probably won't be able to find a store near you...), and ribbon from walmart. I cut out the paper and mod podged it on....

What do you think?

The pics aren't very good either, taken from my cell phone. I have better ones on the digital camera, but it's at home.

Oh yeah...I made the box to put my boyfriend's birthday present in - an iPod.

For my family's grab bag this year, I made a little riddle to go along with my present.

Where can one buy bail pendant mounts? They're those flat circle disks with a loop at the top that glue onto a charm to make it 'hangable'.

I looked on firemountain but couldn't find anything that would work.

I've had this guy in my head for awhile now. This is my take on an Olm Newt. My favorite member of the amphibian family.

He can't see due to his vestigial eyes, but he can totally tell you're vibeing him.

As a Christmas gift to the kids of our Sunday Virtues class in the community, I thought it would be cool to let them decoupage their own keepsake wooden boxes. But I've never done it myself!

So far, I've bought several finished and unfinished wooden boxes from Goodwill and Michaels, and thick brushes. For decoupage finishes - I have Royal Coat Decoupage Finish (Antique) and Aleene's Instant Decoupage Finish (Glossy).

And now craft-experts, I need your advice!

1. Apart from fabric and paper cuttings, is there anything else I should provide? Is there a topcoat (or bottom coat) that's necessary with these products?

2. The Royal Coat Finish mentions that it takes 4 weeks to cure. What does it mean by curing - would the item not be usable, or should not have contact with water? The decoupage finishes are water-based, should I advise them not to let these boxes get wet?

3. Any tips? :)

(I've read the memories, but am looking for any other tips on timing or duration of drying between finishes, etc since it'll be done during a 2 hour period and with teenage girls from 12-16!)
Thanks so much!

For my sister... )

All hand sewn... Kind of hell to make. I still need to finish off the edges of the "sweater" or they're going to unravel themselves to nothing... They're already trying. :p

If this makes no sense at all to you, don't worry. And yes, this is on topic. I made the little Lovecraftian horror there all by my self!

Positive comments from friends inspired me to share this publicly:
