I may or may not just be an idiot, but I'm having trouble finding thermal fabric (edit-waffle textured) online. I'm probably just not searching the right terms, but I really am not finding it, and I'd like to make a friend a shirt out of it.

So where online can I find [cheap] thermal-ish fabric in nice colors/patterns.

eh..lame post

I have what may be a stupid question.... is there any way to safely use paper on something that will be made to hold candles? I want to make a decorative candle dish type thingy like this one: http://www.pier1.com/Images/catalog/g61998_240_240.jpg
out of this old yucky plastic dish I have, and I've got this lovely saved wrapping paper I want to decoupage onto the plate. However, it seems like a slightly bad idea to use paper and glue to cover something that will have lit candles on it. Is this a bad idea, even though the flame of the candle will be pretty far from the dish? And, if it is a bad idea, is there any way to make it work? Something to flame-proof the paper with? A special adhesive? Anything?

does anybody have a great online resource for a good place to buy vintage fabric?

i've found some great fabrics on contemporary cloth and ebay (but ugh, hate ebay), so if anyone knows of any place, i'd love to know! thanks!

It was made to his exact specifications.

(cut for simplicity; in a nutshell:
me: let's use tags to help find things. oops, we can't based on the community settings.)

LJ FAQ info:

"Community Tags:

By default, only community maintainers can define new tags for entries, and community members can add those tags to their entries. However, maintainers can change these settings at the Tags Management page. If you post an entry with new tags, but do not have permission to create new tags or add existing tags, those tags will be removed from your entry."

I made a pillow for my textiles class. It was made out of discarded fabric that I cut into random patterns and hand sewed. It was my first attempt at really sewing anything. Tell me what you think.

Hi everyone! My community for Australian crafters has been a bit quiet for the last few months. I've advertised here before so I'd rather not advertise again but the last post was made on the first day of September so as you can imagine, the community has gone a bit dead. I want to keep it short and simple for those who aren't interested so I'll just end this here :)

Does anyone know where I can get a really simple to sew pattern for a pencil skirt? A brand like McCall's or Simplicity would be nice as well as the number so I can go buy the pattern.

Also could you point me in the direction on how to make a simple tube dress? Im making it for next year's halloween (early I know but Im up at college and access to a sewing machine is strictly for art majors.)

Thanks so much in advance girls and guys!! I will post pictures when Im done!
