Everyone I've sent gifts to has received them, so now I can post all this crap!

First: My girlfriend mentioned a few times that she wanted some lines from "Knights of Cydonia" by Muse on a t-shirt. I entertained the idea for Christmas, but I decided not to go in that direction, because there are lots of stupid people on the planet who like to read your shirt to you and it's very awkward. So... I put them on a purse instead!

DID YOU KNOW: For a short time, Conway Twitty (the country music star) had a fast food chain? They served Twitty burgers, which, in explicably, had pineapple on them--thus, the chain went bankrupt. [profile] fridge_buzz_now  and I found this positively hysterical when we found out at four in the morning (come on, guys--Twitty burgers!), so for Christmas, she got the opportunity to advertise the defunct restaurants wherever she goes:

And the last sewing project (I typed "problem" at first, which works, too, I suppose): my girlfriend's mentioned on various occasions that she wants one of those silly-ass hats with the earflaps. Deerhunter hats, are they? But she's never bought one on her own, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I used a tutorial from Craftster and leftover fleece and fur from last year's zipper banana. The enormous octopus I won playing darts is modelling it, because when I took the pictures, I wasn't in the mood to put my face all over the internet in a silly hat.

And two stencilled band shirts:

Hooray! Once I finish reconstructing some enormous band shirts and replace the zipper on this bag I made (that's the last time I repurpose zippers from low-quality Hot Topic gear), I'll post those. Thanks for looking!

My boyfriend has an irrational love for googly eyes, so just for fun, I made him a little something silly.

What to make for your best friend when he loves The Wizard of Oz/any Oz related stories/Wicked, his favorite Ozian character is Ozma, and he's very health/beauty/hygiene conscious, loves sweets, and you once made him a personalized Christmas stocking, which he lost while moving, and had been not-so-lightly hinting that he'd like another?

Why, you put together one of these for him!:

Baby Quilts

Here are two baby quilts I made for my new nephews for Christmas.

Both have flannel backs and both are filled with 2 layers of high loft cotton batting. And yes, they were ironed before they were given. ;)

I recently bought some finely weaved polyester silk in order to screen thin-lined artwork and am having an annoying issue with the very small thin lines. If this question is better suited in another forum, please let me know!

After burning the entire image, the thicker lines wash out easily, but the very small thin lines take a lot of water pressure and some fingernail scraping to wash out. Is this an issue with not burning long enough? Because eventually they wash away with some effort, just not very easily. As a result, when I attempt to screen, the thin lines do not appear or show up choppy. When I burn the screen, I'm using a transparency with glass on top.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

One of my resolutions for the New Year...is to make a new piece of jewelry everyday. So this is the piece for yesterday.

A while ago, I posted a question to everyone asking what should I knit for my boyfriend's mother and her partner for Christmas? They live in Hawaii, so scarves, hats, and sweaters were out of the question. One of you suggested i knit an hawaiian lei, and I did just that! Here's a photograph of it. Unfortunately, there are no "action shots" but you can sort of get the detail of the piece.
I hope you enjoy, and for the girl who suggested the lei, thank you!!!

I'm new to knitting....and for whatever reason I can not keep my stitches just loose enough to knit quickly. I keep making them too tight or too loose...

any tips?

A close friend is moving to FL for about a year so that he can go to chef school. Seeing that he is "part of the family", I would like to give him *something* that says "Ohana means family and family means that no one gets left behind or forgotten."
I had originally wanted to get that "printed" on a lump of metal (like those "inspirational" words or pocket angels) so that he could have it with him all day, but I can't find anyone that could/would make it. So now I don't know just how I should make it....
Ideas, please? :D

Just a quick, fun project for a baby we are STILL awaiting for! I am overcompensating for the fact that I don't get to be there when he is born by sending his mommy lots of baby crafts (like 8 hats I made on the Knifty Knitter!)

Been a LOOONG time since I posted here, but since I'm slowly getting the idea to try to sell crafted stuff, not to mention the holidays are now over, I thought I'd throw some posts up. I just got a memory card reader so my having lost my camera photo transfering program isn't a bother anymore...

Image heavy... )

Been working on tons of jewelry lately, but my camera doesn't hold a charge for long anymore. Poor thing is dying, its a shame cause its the cutest camera ever. Gonna take pictures of those ones it comes up, using the crocheted pillows I made for my living room as a background. =P

After working my second 12-hour shift yesterday, I began feeling resentful that valuable crafting time was being overtaken by my annoying career. I guess I should try better time management, but when I get home, sometimes I just feel like going headfirst into bed, and all my jewelry making and crochet kit Christmas gifts are really getting sad. How do you folks do it?

[Poll #900746]

Thanks! You all are very talented.

So, I finally figured out what to do with those disc things.
Instead of covering up the cardboard, I just got some kind of posterboard stuff. [We have them in folders at work...] Since the posterboard is thinner, I didn't even need to hide it because it wasn't so hideous.

So, I made a bracelet )

Beware: The image is rather big. I just made all the images into one.

The bracelet looks a lot better in person.

I think I'm gonna make some dangly disc earrings as well. ^_^

So my cousin Polly is finally having a girl & I decided to use that momentous occasion to move from knitting solely scarves into the wide, wonderful world of baby hats. I got a great book (Itty Bitty Hats) for free from my work (a parenting magazine - we get lots of books for free), so I sat down with the book over Christmas break & here's what came out:
