I'm painting a tshirt, and I know that you have to set the paint before you wear it.
How does one set the paint?
I'm using plain old acrylics.
Thanks.

Here are a few pillows I made, they're so much fun to make!

I made these out of thrift store t-shirts and poly-fil stuffing.

Project #07 for 50 projects in 2007. I am making the most of my vacation time and crafting away! I know when school starts (next Monday), I won't have as much free time. This is not the cross-stitch panda I was working on earlier. Someone sent me a panda x-stitch kit and it was more detailed, so.. I messed up. HAHA. So, I set it aside and will work on it later. I'm hoping to finish it.. sometime.. this.. year.. lol. But I wanted to actually complete a cross-stitch, so I charted one of the pixel pandas from this website so I could stitch it. Very simple, and soooooo cute. *_*

Helloooo!!! I've seen some posts like this in the past, so I hope its still okay -

I'm planning on making something completely goofy for my best friend. I want to make him either a CD holder or an iPod cozy in the shape of an egg. And I also want to make him a mixed CD all with songs about eggs, or with egg (or egg related words like yolk, shell, scrambled, fried, over easy, etc.) in the title. Its kind of an in-joke kind of thing. I was wondering if any of you fabulous Craftgrrls and boys have any good egg song suggestions?

I've already got -

Cowboy Bebop OST: The Egg and I/The Egg and You
The goofy little I Love Egg song from ILoveEgg.com
The Cars: Little Black Egg

and a few others that don't sound very good, so I'd like to replace them with more listenable songs. ^_^ Any suggestions? :D

Okay. The current assignment in my 3D Design class is, first, make wire sculpture of someone's head only using line (like a countour drawing, just in 3D). THEN we're remaking the same sculpture on a larger scale except this time we can use whatever materials we want, as long as they're of a linear nature.

I've already thought of using wire (of course), twigs/sticks, toothpicks, pipecleaners... anyone have any more ideas?

Also, is there any way I can strenthen long strips of fabric so that they're able to, like, stand up and be manipulated like wire?

Aaand just so this isn't text only clicky )

I've just begun renting a house that, while otherwise cute, has the most awful paint job in the breakfast room.

click here to corroborate my opinion )

Unfortunately, since I'm renting, I can't paint over this crap; however, I also can't stand that chair rail.

My solution will be to buy some inexpensive fabric, sew it into long strips, and adhere it to the wall over the chair rail.  What do you guys think would be the best way to go about doing that without damaging the paint when I go to remove it?

I don't think I want to put so many holes in it with a staple gun, and masking tape, while gentlest on paint, tends to come off of its own accord after some time.  My best idea is 3M poster tabs, but does that work for fabric?  I don't imagine a paper cover would stand up for more than a month in a kitchen area.

I'd also be very appreciative of other [inexpensive] ideas for covering it up temporarily.  Thanks in advance!

My sister is looking to pay me to create some sort of crafts that are babysafe and obviously babyrelated. She has many friends who are GREAT with child and has many showers to attend.

She didn't give me any ideas to run on aside from that because she's not crafty. at all.

I'm wondering if there is anything simple (or slightly less than simple) that you've done for babies or an idea you could help me out with... anything... because I'd like the money and I'd also like to help my sister. And... I'm always looking for something crafty to do with my hands.

I can sew but I cannot knit or crochet (never tried, don't have the tools and don't want to experiement just yet)
I can draw and/or paint enough to get by, but am no Monet (or any other of your favorite artists).
...

Any help?

Please?
thanks.

I've been daydreaming about making a fish pouch for so long that one day I just woke up and got to work on it. It took me all day, as most mad scientist projects do, but I'm happy with it.

I'm a sometimes seamstress, sometimes quilter...and I wanted a project to play around with my new sewing machine that I could finish relatively quickly and move onto the next. So I've jumped on the fabric postcard wagon!

I snapped pics just so the world can see.

I snapped pics of my postcards just so the world can see.

This is my First Attempt. It was made with fabric I just had on hand, some vintage some not, played around with some of the embroidery stitches on my machine and free motion quilted it with metallic thread. I used muslin on the back which I ended up not liking because you could see the embroidery through it.

So I was onto my Second Attempt with fabric I bought specifically for it. I included some lace w/bead and sequin trim (to the right), some eyelash yarn (to the left) and the lace frame overlay over the word. And here's the BACK which is difficult to see, but you get the jist of it.

I like my second much better, much more my style. All of these are made using thick interfacing, are very sturdy and yes, can be mailed. I'm excited to get the second one out to it's intended receiver :)

I donno; we make homemade gifts each year in my family: I think this totally rocks. I don't know if I live up to the awesome cool stuff other people make (hand knit gloves/hats/felted slippers - woodworking for stools, shoe benches, etc, paintings, story books, recipe books, all kinds of cool stuff = but anyhow) I made these this year: prints of some of my digital photography. I guess people liked em a lot so that's good. Heh. yeah. well at least I made something. lol.

sorry this post is so late; I've been too busy. I figured better late then never?
