The zine:
This is an indie culture zine of sorts.
But then, it isn't.
This is a blog dedicated to everything that makes you feel something.
Everything that gives you goosebumps.
Everything that makes you realize that the artist and the spectator are one and the same.
It probably won't change your life,
but you probably will.

The lowdown:
We need a team of writers for our blog!
We're looking for dedicated bloggers from any country, beach or cave on the planet to write about any interesting events or people in fashion, the diy/craft movement, music, film, or literature- or anyone who has done something unbelievably great for the world in which they live. Interviews or reviews would be good; any dissertations or essays would be good as well. Write about anybody or anything that inspires you.
We also need writers to provide tutorials for diy projects, as well as people to feature!

I looked through the memories but couldn't find anything about this..
I was wondering if anybody could tell me some good sites to order beads from (preferably in the US or Canada, but other places will work too)
I'm looking more for "cutesy" beads and acrylic charms and such. It's funny because I came accross the PERFECT site a few months ago when I didn't need it and now can't find it again.
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks~

My latest, new found obsession is with cloth pads. I scoped around for mini-mini day pads, didn't find much, and decided to make me some of my own! After all, I do have cutesy flannel cloth in my stash.

These are going to be so great for travel.

You may view my sewing adventure at the following link:

It has been a long time (almost a year!) since I used the Singer, and you can see from the photo album, I gave up on the machine mid-way, only to be charmed back to its usefulness later. Have to make a mesh bag to toss these into the laundry.

A few weeks ago I asked if anyone had a pattern for a knitted cowboy boot slipper that I could give to my grandfather for his 80th birthday.  I had to develop my own patern and I'm still tweaking it for future versions, but it is finally finished! Well, almost. I still have to sew on the felt (sprayed with plasti-dip to be slip- and water- resistant) for the outer sole. I put some cushy fabric on the inside so it's nice and comfy.  Also, for presentation at his party later today, I picked up a cheap box from Hobby Lobby and personalized it for him.

Greetings! I've been searching the internet for a few days and have yet to come up with an interesting project for using store-bought washcloths. Everyone has instructions on how to make bunnies, or snowmen, or very simple basket things...I was looking for something, well I guess 'different' would be the best adjective. Something with style, and creativity, something I would see here!
I purchased two 12-packs of tan washcloths for a great buy, thinking the Mighty Internet would yield some awesome ideas of how to use them, but I'm coming up empty! Very disappointing - so I'm wondering, do you have a great washcloth craft that you would like to share? I'm not opposed to sewing, ripping, or otherwise destroying the things, I just want something interesting!

(Washcloths that are similar)

I do have this link to a neat pattern for a terry cloth kitty, but it seems like using such small pieces would be wasteful, plus the little guys are too big for washcloth-use (I'm not -that- good at sewing to take the pattern down in size to fit, itty bitty kitty! Plus there are borders in the washcloths that would make it even more difficult)

Also, so I feel like I am contributing to the community, here is an excellent photo-snowglobe project I received in my inbox that I felt would be nice to share!

Just a quick trial project I did last night- I'll probably give it another go, but not too bad I think for someone who is incredibly artistically impaired! Painting with coffee!

Completely inspired by the fantastic www.justcoffeeart.com folks (I wish I could afford a painting from them, and a print just won't do- doesn't smell the same!).

Tote Bags

Here are some tote bags I have been making lately. I love using the thicker, cordura like fabrics. The printed fabric has been imported from Japan. I have the best fabric store in my area! These bags are fully lined inside and have two pockets and a magnetic closure. They are too much fun to make.

Someone brought me back glass bangles back from India (like this: http://alumni.media.mit.edu/~sarac/albums/objets/churiholder.sized.jpg) and they're a  bit big and tend fall off my wrists. And I was just wondering if there was any way to make them smaller? I was thinking maybe running a thick layer of resin (or something else?) around the inside might keep them from sliding off? Has anyone done anything like this before? Any other ideas?

TIA!

I bought this dress at the GAP outlet store.  It was on sale and I loved the colors.  It was also strapless and I can’t imagine when I would ever show my shoulders in public but I was thinking I could wear it with a cardigan or a denim jacket—except that didn’t eliminate the boning things  sticking me in my ribs or the constant desire to tug the dress up because of the constant fear the dress was sliding down  In other words it looked real nice hanging in my closet but I never wore it….

SOOOOO….

I took out the long zipper, removed the top portion, put in a short zipper ( my first zipper) and made a waistline, threw in a few darts and finished it with some Bias tape.

TADA!

Valentine Heart Cloth Valentine Heart Cloth

Project #06 for 50 projects in 2007. I made this Valentine Heart Cloth using Lily's Sugar'n Cream in some bright green color. I'm sending it to someone for a *glitter RAK. ^-^ Quick and fun to knit up. Though, I didn't repeat rows 1-20 three times. I worked the 20 rows only ONE more time, then did rows 1-11. Rows 1-20 make two rows of hearts.

eta: apparently, the link doesn't work anymore! here is a google cache of the page/pattern.

okay not so crafty but I thought you guys know pretty much everything so... is there a way to antique rings without have to have a jeweler do it? you know put the black on those silver rings? I have a silver ring with sunning detail but it's so shiney you can't see the details! thank you in advance!

I have recently started washing my fabric before sewing since I washed a bag and it shrunk severely! But how do I deal with the strings from the edges? They get all tangled when the edges fray. Is there a way to remedy this? Or do I just deal?

Does anyone have a review for this handheld sewing machine? All I need it for is hemming dog bandanas for work. I wish I could get one that can do lettering too but I've heard those are very expensive. If anyone can recommend a cheap but easier to use sewing machine if this isn't good I would appreciate it.

i'm making a laptop sleeve. for the innermost layer i'd like to use something that's soft and won't scratch my laptop. i bought fleece but realized that fleece tends to generate static and that would be bad. a few similar tutorials online say to use an old sweatshirt but i don't know how i feel about that. i also didn't find anything in the memories section (but please correct me if i overlooked something).

so... any ideas about a soft, won't-scratch, non-static fabric?

oh, and bonus points to something i might find in olive green.
