In all the time I've been designing hats [a whopping six or seven months now], I have been trying to make a cloche hat that reminded me of all the great hats I've seen in pictures of my great-grandparents. I think I finally did it. Two pictures of the completed look under the cut.

worsted weight yarn, an I-hook, and a bit of dumb luck )

I've been busy creating beaded barrettes as a way to use up some colorful square beads I've had a while and didn't know what to do with them.

I know the Knifty Knitter is so not cool anymore, but I'm still diggin' it. Has anyone figured out how to make baby booties on it? I found this: http://www.provocraft.com/projects/kniftyknitter/baby.booties.html, but I'm thinking something with...a heel? I was thinking it wouldn't be super hard to adapt the big (adult) sock pattern I have, but I thought I'd see if anyone else has done the hard work already, haha. I have a toddler, so I don't get much time for experimenting.

Second, I made some cloth pads! Two sets of big, thick post partum pads! The first set (green and blue) is my first set ever. They're for my friend who is due any day now with her second baby. The second set (pink and white) is for me to use after my second baby is born in June! My set isn't quite finished yet, I still have 5 more to sew up (they have pins in the pictures!) and all the snaps to add. I feel a kind of guilty that my set turned out a little better than hers, but that's what she gets for having a baby first! ;) (I posted these earlier in the diy_pads community, so sorry if you've seen them before!)

For once, I actually made myself some clothes. +2 )
I made one other shirt, but it's not totally done yet. I just have to figure out how to work an iron and sew on some buttons, then I'll post it!

I thought there was an entry in the memories on making lotion. I have looked at the list twice and I don't see it. :(

In the event that there is not an entry...what are your favorite recipes for making lotion? I have some peppermint oil that I am dying to add to some lotion! :)

If there is an entry in the memories, will someone please link me?

here's a funquestion for you...

what should i make with the yarn i bought today? it's about 100g of white, 3-ply synthetic baby yarn.

some criteria:
1) i'm only a beginning knitter; i can do basically anything involving knit and purl and k2tog, but i'm not exactly sure how to do increases...
2) i only have access to the straight needles that they sell in the covered market (i didn't bring any supplies with me, and there is no yarn shop in downtown oxford! :p )
3) i'm only here for another 2 months, so it should be relatively quick.

:) i'd like to make something small, quick, pretty; maybe something i can give to my tutor as a thank you gift when I leave.

any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Where can I find some sterling sliver ring bases like this for the best price?
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
and they dont HAVE to be sterling silver, but I would like them to.

I keep seeing this in the Dallas Craigslist and I know there must be some use I can find for a bunch of teensy fabric scraps, but I just can't figure out what it might be.  Anyone have any suggestions?
