Here is my first attempt at a charm bracelet, with some beads that I just had lying around. There is also a necklace/bracelet set, some great toothbrush bracelets, and a scarf, all of which are beautiful photos thanks to the lightbox i made for myself.. =)

The other day I came across the stuffies/plush Contest and the link went to Flickr.

I didn't bookmark it though. : /

Anyone know who's putting on that contest? or have a link?

I tried searching crafster and flickr but didn't have any luck.

thanks in advance.

Back again, back again! I've got something you crazy crocheters might enjoy. The crochet forum on Craftster.org has just posted the third crochet challenge! The members voted, and they decided on the theme "hats inspired by animals"! The hats can be big, little, blue, green, shaped like a sheep, an octopus, a bumble bee, made for your dog, made by your dog, anything you want just as long as it's crocheted and inspired by an animal.

If you're not a member of Craftster, don't worry. Just sign up! It doesn't matter how many posts you have or if you're a new member or an old member. And you could win a PRIZE!

Check out this link for more details: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=150959.0

Just so this post isn't entirely spammy (does anyone else think I sound like a car salesman or a circus announcer person?) heres a hat (no, it's not inspired by an animal, unless you think *I'm* an animal. In which case, maybe....)

Hi crafters!

I have kind of a crafty question. I am an expectant mommy, due in 6 weeks, so forgive my ignorance on this subject.

I have TONS of baby related fabric stocked up, so I was thinking about making my own burp cloths. My question is, how big are burp cloths supposed to be? Anyone have any dimensions they could give me?

Also, should I make them thick? (ie, put batting in between two pieces of cloth) or would just one layer be sufficient?

sorry if this question is not right for the community, i am just not sure where else i should ask! lol.

HELP!

I am offering private art lessons to an 11 year old girl who has NO experience with art - even in her public school classroom. I want to make sure i give her a thorough overview of different kinds of media as well as open up the doors of creativity to her and really make sure that she feels free to express herself. so my question to you is this... what should i offer? what do you wish you had learned? what kinds of things help spark you to feel creative and free to express yourself?

Hair clips, a bracelet, and a book.

I'm writing an article for my high school paper and need to interview a couple of younger, "revolutionary" and maybe politically minded crafsters.
I'm looking for people under the age of 25 who make cool modern type stuff with a message in mind. If anyone read the recent Bitch magazine article about the crafting revolution, I kinda want to do my version of that from an insider's point of view.

This will mean free exposure for you to about 150 high school students!
If you're interested in this opportunity, either comment your response to the questions below on this post, or email me at lia.saunders@gmail.com so there's no conflict with posting URLs here, etc. Thanks!

The Questions )

Ok, as prefaced this is probably a dumb question, but is there anything that gets acrylic paint out of fabric? I'm painting a fabric covered photo album for my boyfriend for valentine's day and, true to form, I've botched it already. It's a lightweight, canvas-esque fabric if that helps.

Thanks in advance!

Hello , i am going to be making a basic handmade journal complete with binding etc.

So a few questions...

What is the best thing to use as a thread for the 'hoops' connecting the book pages?

And what is the best thing to use to make sure they bind well and the book wont collapse?

thank you so much :)

Every year my husband and I make each other gifts for Valentine's Day with a small spending limit. This year I decided to make him an insulated lunch bag. I figured it is time for him to stop carrying a plastic grocery bag to work. I was very pleased with the way it turned out. I ended up making two bags. I originally picked the brown plaid fabric for his lunch bag, but once I got it home, it seemed too girly. So I made one bag in plaid and another bag with the back side of the plaid (it's a pretty chocolate brown). I am going to let him choose which one he wants and I am going to keep the other one for myself. LOL! But I am a stay-at-home mom now and I don't really need a lunch bag to take to work anymore. But I am sure I'll use it.

Here's what I came up with:

Help!

I'm currently in the middle of making a DS cozy for my boyfriend. My original plan was to embroider Samus (Super Metroid) onto the front of the cozy, but since I've started doing so I've had second doubts. What are your suggestions for putting this ) onto fabric?

I already have the grid transferred onto my fabric. I was thinking about maybe trying to paint it, or even cross-stitch. Thanks for any help!
