Hi everyone! This is my first real post, but this is the first time I've made something I'm actually proud of! I'm a real amateur at sewing so cute me some slack! I had this pair of jeans that I was super attached to. A few years ago I lost a lot of weight and this was my first pair of 'skinny' jeans. They are still plus sized but they were important to me. They are super old though and had some pretty significant freying in the butt area so I converted them into a bag! I know it's super common but for my first real project I think it was good! Fun and Easy and my sloppy sewing isn't too evident!

I saw a post a long while ago where someone had made some of these things and got inspired, dug out some embroidery tools and learned how to do it. Now I am excited because they make great easy gifts. I made this one for my secret pal in the Punk rock Gift exchange

I just sorta finished the hat from Hello Yarn, We Call Them Pirates. I'm now supposed to pick up the stitches at the bottom, switch to a needle size that's 2 sizes smaller (1, instead of 3) and knit a couple inches, then sew inside the hat. Basically, knit a band for a lining. However, I had to use 2s to keep the hat from getting too big, and I don't have anything smaller. Should I use a thinner yarn on my 2s, or should I just try to knit the lining at the same gauge? I'm so proud of myself so I really don't want to screw it up, but the hat sorta needs a lining to keep the bottom from rolling up.

I was inspired by the knitted platypus somebody posted a little while ago, so I went and crecheted my own!

Is spray paint flammable after it has dried?

I've been lucky enough to acquire a stove whose burner covers are stained beyond repair, and it's such an old model that I can't find any in the hardware stores to replace them. I was thinking of using some chrome paint, but would prefer not setting the entire stove on fire (it's a gas burning stove).

Thanks for your help!!

And just so this isn't text only, here are some pics of a pinata I made..... )

Most of my best friends go to other universities around the country, so I have to think of things to send to them to stay in touch.

As a part of my consideration for acception into Ryerson University (Fashion Communications Program) I had to send them a portfolio filled with specific things they asked for.
One of them was to design a peice of clothing and send them the pictures.

So I made a pair of pants.
I've never made pants before, and I thought it would be kind of cheating if I used a pattern, so it all came from my imagination.
WHAT an idea.
Ouff..

Final result..

I made my first project!! A hand sewn (there are many imperfections, but I'm happy with it) tote bag for a friend!

Pictures Can be seen here behind the cutpictures! )

Both sides are pretty much identical. I think the elephant is in a different position on each of the pockets. The buttons are just for decoration, I didn't want to actually try button holes yet. I also was going to put a pocket inside, but I think I'm going to take some fabric and just make it into a coin purse or a pouch instead. I don't think it's too bad for my first project. I just kinda looked at the fabric I had and went from there.

Please comment!

Thanks!
