Hi. I bought a beading loom recently, and I'm stoked at how awesome it is and how much I can do with it.

I made a bee bracelet:

I'm pretty proud of how awesome my own bee design came out. I want to make a bunch of biology-related bracelets and chokers now that I know how.

I have a couple questions, however. While I get the whole beading of the design part, I haven't found a good way to finish things on a loom. What do I do with all the strings? How can I make sure that when I tie them up, that they don't untie and ruin my piece of work? And most importantly, how the hell do I make something on a beading loom with a clasp??

When I realized how difficult it was to make a clasp, I did this:

Yeah, that's two balls fitting into one loop, and hoping to god that it stays together like that all day. No, I have no idea what the hell possessed me to think that it would work. So far so good (minus ugly).

I was also thinking about making a stretchy bracelet on a loom, but that's beyond me. What could I possibly use to make it stretchy? Can I just make the loop stretchy? Is there anything that thin that could work?

Also, I googled up a bunch of free beading loom designs, but haven't found much of anything I liked aside from this one Ukrainian lady's cross-stitch pattern page. Anyone know of any good beading loom pattern websites?

I'm so very tired but I just finished this bag and I wanted to post it. The images are shit I'll redo them tomorrow but OMFG I love love love this bag. It almost makes me want to start smoking so I can quit just so I can carry the bag.

I got the idea for this bag after finding the fabric because a friend told me she quit smoking when she took up knitting. It was for a bunch of reasons, one being her hands were always busy and the other she didn't want her swanky yarn to smell like cigarette smoke.

Well here is it, my fabulous How To Stop Smoking knitting tote bag.

Hello everyone.

This is my first post regarding my own crafting.

Under the cut is my first major crocheting project: a power up mushroom from Mario Bros. Prior to this I did a doily some 8 years back, and more recently some booties and a cap for my newborn daughter.

My friend is graduating next week. She teaches elementary, and I know a lot of supplies come out of pocket. I was thinking of making her a tote with some kid craft items. Is that stupid? Any ideas on what to put in there? I was thinking some fancy hole punches and scissors, and pipe cleaners, but am really pretty clueless. Don't remember much from kid crafting other than the paste some kids liked to eat :)

So...I was invited to take part in a crafts fair in Santa Cruz in June. I have no idea who else will be selling there or how it will really pan out but I'm very excited. It's got my motivation to sew back and it will be a good opportunity to work on my packaging and to be able to try this whole thing out for the first time at home is nice. I made a sort of big list of what I'd like to get done and these are guys I've finished so far. I have a little over a month to prepare.

hey guys

again, im asking for your expert knowledge and help

i'm going to be knitting a friend of mine's bub a monkey in a suit. my friend asked me to knit something for the little 'un, and when i voiced the fact that bub might end up herking on it, she suggested that she could propbably hand wash it.

so here i lay my question - for those of you who have kids or have made things for kids, does it matter if i knit it out of acrylic or wool? should i stuff it loosly (instead of tight like i normally do) so that when it gets washed, it'll dry faster, or does it not matter?

any other tips for knitting toys for bubs? apart from the dont-use-small-buttons-ect-that-they-could-die-from. i dont want to be responsible for killing my friends son. that would make social situations awkward.

and just so this aint text only, here up is the next thing ive knitted. branching out from the monsters (cause not everyone wants to own a monster (i know, i know, i couldnt believe it either)) i knitted my sister a book instead.
because she likes reading
more than cryptozooology.

go figure

So I need help/ideas to make some Fandango-style paper bag puppets.
Do any of you know online some sites that show you how to make some of the more higher-end paper bag puppets -- and not the kid-made low-rent kind?

I really want to be able to personalize them and make them look "realistic." I realize it's pretty simple being a paper bag puppet and all, but Fandango does such an excellent job personalizing theirs that I wanted to make mine just as impressive -- if that's possible.

If any of you have pointers or suggestions, or know of some crafty sites I should look at for ideas, I sure would be grateful!

Here's a couple of videos of the Fandango puppet commercials in case you don't know what the heck I'm talking about:

Fandango 2

Thanks for your help!

I have been spinning quite a lot lately. I really wanted some bright colours, mainly due to the return of grey clouds just recently.

What does a broke and bored roller derby chick do on a Friday night? Nope, not go skating. Make a roller derby themed purse, of course!

I decided to use this tutorial to make a shoulder bag out of the roller derby printed material I bought a while ago. Now that I think about it, I think I originally saw the fabric in this community. Anyways, it took me about 2 1/2 hours to make, and I'm very pleased with the results. The only difficult part was cutting out the pattern. It's an awkward size, so cutting it out took some creativity.

The bag is 17"X10" and about 2" deep. The strap is about 2 1/2" wide and 36" long.

Finally I've finished the Lorenzino's sheet.
Do you like it?It's cross stitched with bald little angels:two of them are for the baby watching, four of them are for the baby watchers :)
Here it is: )
