Meet Sol, he is a Blue Hammerhead Skink. If you're wondering why his tail is so short that's because it was recently pulled off :/ Please don't mention it though, he is very sensitive and is regenerating it as fast as possible.

I introduced myself the other day, and now I figured I'd share some of my creations with everyone. I make these little felt pins:

This is what I'm focused on right now. But I also dabble in some other crafts. =)

We have a stump on our patio so I made this fairy door, window, and wreath for it. I bought the fence out of the doll furniture section of Hobby Lobby and painted it along with the door and window. I made the door and window out of wooden craft sticks glued together and the wreath for the fence out of wire, glass and plastic beads, glass butterfly beads and a large, plastic, white, bunny bead.

Wow! When I posted my Japanese boxes yesterday and offered to mail the instructions to whoever wanted them I never thought so many would want them! Because of the responce I have scanned the instructions and I'm posting them here. I will still mail the original instructions to soindywaits.

A friend of mine loves rubber duckies. She has a birthday coming up, so I had this idea.I drew my ducks on shrinky dink plastic, unaware of exactly how small they would get. I did NOT punch a hole beforehand. I ended up buying a dremel tool engraver's bit to make holes in the ducks. I also colored in my ducks with watercolor pencils, having nothing else handy. I had to apply a coat of spray varnish to them, to seal in the pencil. Lessons to be learned are:

1. Shrinky dinks get way smaller than you think
2. Drill holes before baking said shrinky dinks
3. It's probably not a great idea to use watercolor pencils on shrinky dinks.

Help!

I'm relatively new at sewing (about 3 years now, and I've been quite productive, but I've been *ENTIRELY* limited to SCA period garb.)

I've gotten so inspired by a lot of the photos I've seen in this community that I've got some ideas now to branch out. I love all the totes and things that ppl are making (even though I really don't do purses much) and I had a thought. I'll need to be moving with my cat to Baltimore in September. (He's moving to B'more, I'm moving to Scotland.) If I take him in the car, most of the trip won't be a problem, but I'm thinking I'll have to fly, and I really *HATE HATE HATE* those plastic boxes w/ bars they call carriers. They feel like prisons to me.

I had the idea that I'll need to replace my computer bag anyway, so I'd like to do a set of two, one for my laptop (big, so I can carry other stuff too) and one for my Archimedes. This seems a reasonably attractive and funtional style: http://www.travelinpets.com/product_info_pages/pet-totes.html

I've never really made a purse, especially not one with so much structure. I'm relatively comfortable on figuring out zippers, clasps, etc, and I know I'll need mesh for airflow and visibility. Does anyone have any pointers on how to make the bags sturdy, even bordering on rigid? Are there any other major concerns I'm missing because I'm a newb at bag-making?

x-posted to several communities: sorry, but I really need the help

Hey folks. Did anyone attend the Renegade Craft Fair last weekend in NYC? Unfortunately, I'm on the wrong side of the pond, but I'm planning to do a little blog roundup about it for my site Crafty Crafty. If anyone would be able to tell me a little bit about what they saw, what trends they picked up on, what was good etc (or not) that would be great. Thanks!xx

A friend of mine recommended this site to me years ago,
but I never got around to try it out.
Since I'm moving into my new apartment soon,
I've decided to try out the [Rasterbator] for some homemade posters.

Not sure if this is considered "crafty", but I adore how this came out. :]

Hey all!

I've been doing some sewing *when am I not sewing LOL?* It started with me wanting to do something a little different because sometimes you just need a break from the vinyl. I picked up a whole mess of this burlap like material from Hancock that is going out of business here *cheap!* and started cutting and sewing and came up with this...

Here's a puzzler for you....

I have a cotton waistcincher that I made earlier this year out of plain cotton.  Is there a way to treat the fabric so it looks like something other than cotton?  More shiny and vinyl-like?  I know how to do this with furniture, but no idea if there's any sort of flexible shellac or gloss coat that is made for fabrics.

Any ideas?

EDITED TO ADD: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] miss_tee I now know it's Cha Cha in 'Tango' by Patons.

I've foolishly fallen in love with an oddment of yarn that I bought at my LYS a few months ago. It's the softest thing ever, and I'd love nothing more than to make a huge cuddly blanket for my boyfriend with it.

The only thing is, being an oddment I have NO idea what it's called, who makes it, and where to find more.

I'm posting these pics in the hope that someone out there will recognise the yarn and give me its name - or any info at all really!

In terms of texture, it's fluffy and very silky feeling. It's almost certainly manmade fibre. The yarn itself is quite thin, certainly thinner than DK. The colours are brighter and more fiery in real life.

Thanks for looking guys!

I'm making a plaque/award of sorts from a 12" record. What kind of paint will stay on the vinyl part and cover the label? Should I get that spray paint for plastic?

And to those who have molded records for bowls and such- are the fumes pretty wicked?

PS- Thanks for the response about the Super Mario scarf- I'm so PUMPED!
