Jul. 14th, 2007 12:32 am( reversible purse, YAAAYYYY )
And also a purse I knitted a few months ago but it was my first knitted purse and came out horrible so I had put it away, but now I sewed a lining for it and it's wearable, my next one is definitely going to be wider and is not going to have that wide bottom.

3 Ovens died on Me
Jul. 14th, 2007 02:28 amI bought 3 brand new ovens and they all died on me. It took me 3 ovens to realise that there was nothing wrong with the ovens initially, it was all my wall sockets fault! Argh!
Thankfully, it is all fixed now, and I made new rings with my new oven and new wall socket.

So when i had no oven to work with, I turned to my sewing machine and made some wrist clutches.

Aren't they cute? It is the first project I made of which (?) everything was hand made... accept the wool ofcourse, i had to steal that from some sheep. But go me.

Jul. 14th, 2007 01:57 pmso introducing the Bunyip and the Doolagah!

( right this way for more pics of the monster puppets and the monster myths )
and for those of you who work with toy and fake fur, the best thing i ever learned about that is when youre cutting it, dont use sissors and jsut hack away like you do with material, because you always end up with short hairs at the cut and makes it much harder to hide seams. instead, turn the fur over and gently slit the backing material with a razor or scaple. that way you part the material without cutting the hair in any way. SO useful i needed to share it.
and for those of you who are wanting to make foam puppets like these (how the muppets were made) i cannot recommend more highly the book 'The Foam Book, an easy guide to building polyfoam puppets' by drew allison and donald devet
Horror Chest
Jul. 14th, 2007 04:54 pmAll the images came from old issues of Fangoria and Nickelodeon magazines. It's painted in acrylics and glued with modge podge. The dripping blood is red glass paint, and the black flowers were, I believe, just done in sharpie. It used to have a cherry-like finish. There is a picture of what it originally looked like deep, deeeep in my image folders, but you can imagine, can't you?
If I were covering it today, I would incorporate a little Pinhead and Regan MacNeil and cover the front doors more like the top and sides. I could do a cleaner paint job now, too, but I like it just the same. ^_^

( Horror movies and I have been in love with eachother for a long time. )

Jul. 14th, 2007 05:09 pmDoes anyone have any brilliant ideas for a bunch of single mittens? I've been cleaning up my basement and I've found a ton of pretty handknitted one-of's that I hate to throw away, but seriously - single mittens.

Jul. 14th, 2007 06:07 pmI didn't see anything about this in the memories... please help!
I want to do a stencil of Happy Cat, but unfortunately the stencil I have is not one big piece of black to cut out... I will be trying to cut out the white parts of this stencil (picture under cut) but some bits of the cat that should not be painted will be lost from the stencil when I cut out the rest, like his eyebrows and pupils. How do I fix that? I will be using freezer paper to do it if that helps at all. Can I iron on the freezer paper first, then cut out the white parts and peel them off, leaving the unconnected black bits freestanding and sealed onto the shirt in the correct place for me to paint around? I hope this makes sense, please let me know if I need to clarify anything.

Jul. 14th, 2007 09:04 pmAnyways, its gotten my creative juices flowing again, which I'm very thankful for, because I always seem to be more at peace when I'm able to get all that out. So, I decided my first "craft" would be a t-shirt for my niece's birthday today.

Photo Slide Night Light
Jul. 14th, 2007 11:59 pmI pulled some photos the new mom had taken and shared with us of some of his "firsts" and printed them out on laser-printer transparency sheets, and put them into slide mounts.
Making the little frame for the slides to hang on was the biggest pain. I just cut up an old hanger and bent it around until it worked. I drilled two holes into the side of the plastic bulb shield of a plain old boring night light to fix the frame to.
