At 11:50 I finished sewing this, what a tough project, it was not easy like I thought it was going to be. This one is for me, I love headbands so I covered one with glitter vinyl and some flowers. Very cute!

Last week, I posted the roller derby pillow and cigar. I had a lot of positive remarks (thanks) and everyone told me I really needed to go ahead and make the squeaky cigar for the punk rock dog, Matador.

So I did.

Sorry my picture sucks, I need to send it today and was rushing.

So, I decided I was going to an Altered Book. I've been a scrapbooker for years, but wanted to do something different. Eventhough I was very nervous doing it for the first time. HEY, it's ART! How can I get that wrong, right?? Anyway, I love this community and have been watching for years. So, here here for my first post!

This is a page from the ABC Altered Book I made for my Mom. This is the 'H' page.

I bought both of these pieces at a flea market, and now I'm trying to figure out what to do with them. They were both on leather cord when I bought them (strung with some hideous beads, I might add). I don't work with leather, and I'm not too fond of the way pieces look just hanging on silk cord. I'm looking for something a little more creative, so I thought I'd turn to the most creative ladies I could think of. Here they are. )

Hey everyone! Recently I have been contacted by customers who are interested in buying my handmade charms wholesale. I'm not sure how to go about this, since I'm a craftgrrl first and a (wannabe) businesswoman second. So, my question is, how do you handle wholesale purchases? I'm a small one-person operation - I sell my crafts as a hobby, not as a full-time job. Can I even afford to provide wholesale discounts? I found this page which had some helpful hints, but I still feel in the dark. I'd really appreciate your personal experiences and advice.

And so this isn't boring text-only, here are pix of some of my work.

I've just retruned from vacationing in Gulf Shores, AL. I found lots of shells on the beach that already have holes in them in exactly the right spot (jewelry wise, that is!) - how does that happen? Anyway, I made a birthday gift for my sister using some of them. The reddish beads are spiny oyster (I bought those on while on my trip). Since the shells already had decent sized holes, I was able to attatch them to the chain with jump rings.

FYI, the bead store in Gulf Shores is called Blue Girl Beading Co. It's worth a visit if you're in the area :)

Personal Boom Box Plushie
Personal Boom Box Plushie

There are people, like my husband, who like to fall asleep in complete silence. Then there is the rest of us, who like background music or soothing sounds to lull us into the nightscape.

Often these silence sleepers complain when we sound sleepers need our noise to catch our 40 winks and we are left with the dilemma - a night of silent insomnia, or strangling in our sleep at the hands of headphones.

Nothing is more useful than something that prevents death, right?
So I made a personal boom-box/ goodnight pillow which only the head that is resting upon can hear.

The perfect solution! )

i just moved and I'm looking for some fun decor...and I stumbled upon this but I'm definitely not going to pay that much and ship this item from Germany..

I'm sure my dad could come up the electrical/engineering side of it.. but does anyone here have any idea for the artsy side of it? I could create the design with all those examples online, and I'm thinking maybe the sheets you can use for making your own stencils, but to make sure first because I don't need burnt/melted plastic down my wall.. but how can I get the opaque to create designs?

any help is SO appreciated

Unlike other beginners who pore over How-To's (bake a cake! Shave your dog! Drive a car!) and follow directions to a T (don't use near flame!), I don't. Whenever a new craft catches my fancy I scour up loads of raw materials and jump in headfirst -- to hell with the consequences! Well, my latest disaster was polymer clay.

After quickly browsing through some quick how-to guides on the internet, I figured all I needed to know was shape, bake, paint and seal. I swept up a small beginner Sculpey pack with oodles of delicious colors and set out to SuperCratfs(wo)man!

Of course, it didn't really turn out that way. Though I had tons of fun and made some cutesy clay things, I did learn a few important things.

Thanks for looking!
