Hey guys.

I've been cleaning my craft room...and I'm sort of on a budget so I've been forced to think of some creative storage solutions.

Here's One...and a Clay Box )

More will probably appear soon. ^__^ Or at least I hope so...I'm sick of the mess in there ~_~

Last Friday night in anticipation of the Deathly Hallows coming out, I invited some friends over for butterbeer, pumpkin tarts, Harry Potter movies and wand making.  I saw the instructionals tutorial and fell in love with it.  I have made about 12 of them, but given away 6 already.

I've been making these Crawling Eye dolls for quite awhile. They are a fun exercise in texture and color use. I  have their origin story  in my journal if you're interested.

I adore old monster movies. My favorites are The Trollenberg Terror,  X-The UnKnown, The Creature From the Black Lagoon Trilogy(did you know a woman designed this monster? a real rarity in the 50's), The Blob, The Sound of Terror and The Black Scorpion(A Ray Harryhausen film.)... to name a few.

I like the fact that often one person worked on a creature like the scorpions from concept to completion of  the film. Now a days it takes 300 guys in chin beards  at computers to do the same thing.

hii everyone :)
i haven't done art in a long time & i'm finally getting some motivation to get back into it and get into things i've never tried before... ie: making dolls.
i decided to start off small & make a baby panda feltie. the needles i bought were way too thick and it took me forever to sew the thing, but i think he came out okay :)
i just wanted to share! :D

I remember a while ago, somebody posted a website with a TON of stencils on it.
There were a bunch of different categories... kind of a plainish website...
If anybody has that site, can they post it? Thanks!

Nearly a year after the fact, I've finally gotten around to getting a picture taken of my CanAmerican quilt that I made for my then boyfriend (now husband). He's Canadian, and I'm American. The center block is a modified (VERY modified) maple leaf.

It's machine pieced, and the edges are machine quilted. I just tied the middle portions due to lack of time. It's a little worse for the wear considering we use it as a throw everyday. But you get the idea! :)

i was going to ask my ex this question, but i decided he's not nice and i never want to talk to him again, so:

i did an art project when i was a kid, that involved covering a canvas randomly in paint, then finding shapes in it and painting the details onto it, using the random mess as inspiration.

i'm working at a summer camp and i want to do a similar thing with the campers, except we're going to make the random mess with mud, because mud is fun.

according to my housemate, there is a name for this process of making art out of random mess that he learned at art school, but he can't remember it. anyone know what he means?

This is the first time in a loooong time that I've posted here.

I was knitting one of those string grocer's bag but it got destroyed by some overly enthusiastic kids over the weekend so I bought fabric to cheer myself up. I knew that I wanted to make a bag for class next semester but I was stumped on the pattern, until I came across this. I love Amy Butler fabrics and since this fabric was kinda giving off that vibe, I figured I'd try it. I wanted the bag asap so waiting for the pattern to be shipped wasn't an option. The measurements and plenty of pictures are on the website so I guessed that I could just wing it. I think the bags are pretty similar other than me skipping her zipper and adding two exterior pockets for my camera and iPod.

I took the bag for a test run to work today to make sure everything was sewed securely. It held up well, but the strap is a little long for lugging heavy objects all day. It really banged against my legs with a couple of sodas and a sandwich in it. I'll shorten it once I start dragging books between classes but for now the length is fine.

You can see more pictures of the bag on Flickr. I still haven't figured out how to display a ton of pictures from there at once.

Hey, I'm back! I'm the one who's cosplaying as Rosa and needed skirt help. My skirt's finished - it turned out great! And I want to thank everyone for the great help.

I need more help, however. Sorry! I'm such a pest.

My outfit is, for the most part, complete. However, I look more like a ghost than I do Rosa. My costume needs some serious pizzazz.

You'll see what I mean... )

Please, any help would be much appreciated. I apologize for the long post, and hope this is within the rules. Thank you so much.

I want to make a ruffly scarf, this is the pattern:

Using bulky yarn and a size 13 (9mm) 24" circular needle, cast on 100 stitches. Knit 3 rows. On Row 4, knit in the front and back of each stitch. (200 stitches) Knit 3 rows. On Row 8, knit front and back of each stitch. (400 stitches) Knit 3 rows. Cast off.

What does knit in the front and back of each stitch mean? Google is not my friend tonight.

Dudes. I humbly request the fruits of your craft-pertise.

I've taken on the role of arts and craft director at a summer camp, and I've only got three weeks to plan and shop for it. I've done this before, but I'd LOVE to have some activities that would rock those kids' frigging socks off, know what I'm sayin'? The campers are girls and boys between 7 and 12. I've got about 70 kids, and I'll see them each 3-4 times, for about an hour each session. My budget is about 400-500 bucks, so the activities can't be terribly expensive. We also have a theme of "At the Movies" for our big end-of-camp soiree, so I could (but don't have to) do activities around that theme.

Any suggestions, passing thoughts, ideas, or inklings would be much appreciated!
