This is a hand-stamped velvet bag that I hand-sewed for a friend.  I really should iron it before sending it to her, I think.

Take one YSL Bow Bag

Add one Topshop necklace:

And you can get closer to my inspiration for this necklace. Since I did not have any sheets of plastic at my disposal, I handsewed several layers of different fabric together (pleather/velvet/silk) and added sequin detailing. Everything was sewed by hand, mainly on a train back from Brighton to London, and I am reasonably pleased with the result.

How do you preserve the original shape, textures and colour of fruits or vegetables? (I checked memories/google)

I'm making something for an art class using bread. It's going to be a toaster made out of toast.

I need to figure out a way to seal it so it won't be crumbly and get moldy, etc.

I have some mod podge, but I'm not sure if it would be heavy enough? What do you guys think?

There's a new issue of Knitty out now...

I just wanted to show off my new yarn! I got it at a LYS a couple of towns over, and at 50% off. Score! AND it's machine washable, which I've found to be hard to find in the LYSs. Double score!

Ooh, purdy )
It's 55% Merino wool, 33% Microfibre, and 12% Cashmere. And did I mention that it's MACHINE WASHABLE? Because it is! :D It's also very, very soft.

I think I'm going to make a scarf out if it, with two different stitches and alternate the stitches and colors. After I finish the two separate projects I'm working on at the moment, though. I must have been crazy to agree to two projects at once, lol.

I've been painting some figures for sale, using cheap Walmart (yeah, I know, so sue me) clear spray paint for the finish. On just one piece, it's coming out foggy. When I handle it, the fogginess seems to lessen, but not go away entirely. It is a little cool outside where I'm spraying. Is this a tempurature thing? If so, why would it only affect one peice? Is it likely to clear up if I let it warm up inside, out of the breeze? Should I just repaint the peice and try again? Is the moon made of cheese? Am I asking too many questions?

Here are pages from my visual journal that I made from scratch. I had just posted these 3 as individual posts, but it bothered some people that they weren't done as 1 with a cut.

So here's the cut. )

I know I’ve posted pictures and chatted about my bathroom before. However, tonight I am excited to announce today that I’ve finally finished sticking all the damn stars on the ceiling! Holy hell! It’s been so many months of punching, peeling, climbing up on a ladder, and sticking. My arms are tired, y’all! You can click on the pic above for a slideshow of my bathroom’s before and after pictures. I recommend that you hit the FAST button after the jump as flickr can be slow and there are over ninety photos.

I had the opportunity to focus on the bathroom for a bit due to the rain today. That kept me inside and not working on the deck. Mike and I also moved and reinstalled the heater in the kitchen that had to be yanked out for the new back door. And just in time! When I ran downtown to get some milk, the bank clock said it was fifty degrees out! Brr! I’ve turned on the heat downstairs. Poco had that cold, hunched, just-about-to-shank-me look if I didn’t let him sit on my lap.
