I've recently got into silk screening on to T-shirts

I'm using SpeedBall Fabric Paint.

I find that when I use white paint on black shirts, the paint doesn't come out very bright.

It kindof has a "grey" look to it.

anyone have suggestions on "darkening up"  white paint so that it actually looks white??

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I wanted a new apron, so I made one!

I made the pattern out of a paper bag, and I'm VERY happy with how it turned out.

I checked the memories, but didn't see anything on this topic. How do I make a petticoat? Does anyone know of an easy, idiot-proof tutorial?

Edit: Thank you so much! I posted answers below.

Does anyone know where I can get:

1. blank cufflinks where I can glue things on?

2. single Scrabble tiles

It's for our four-year anniversary and the ones at B&N are $38, so I thought I'd make my own easily enough. The only problem is, I've been on a hiatus from crafting and have entirely forgotten where I can get these. Any help would be so appreciated! Thanks!

I've recently decided to make use of the multiple skeins of embroidery floss I've acquired and I'm returning to my childhood and making friendship bracelets.

See, the thing is... I was about 8 when this fad hit and I never learned how to make all the really awesome designs. Just the basic spiral and diagonal line.

I briefly searched the memories, but really... I never expected there to be anything. The popularity of these totally rad items has, sadly, faded out.

So I was just wondering... how do I make the wicked designs I found today?

large image behind cut with example )

Also, I did make one that was 3 colors/six strands and it ended up twisting and going all crazy on me. I don't really have any idea how to make them wide and thick like they look in the image without them winding up on themselves. *I did google this and it says to iron it, but I just want it to NOT do that. I pinned it down in different areas in the process of making the bracelet and it still didn't help.

Any children of the 80's out there? (and by that, I don't mean BORN in the 80's, I mean REMEMBER LIFE in the 80's. no offense.)
Can you help me?

this WikiHow helped, but not enough.

I'll be avidly studying info from girl scouts also... but again... your info, please?

Thanks ahead of time.

I finished this stuff last night, I couldn't sleep. I have been working on new illustrations of bugs. I love their little feelers.

Pretty simple, but simply pretty. (at least I think so)

I'm looking to do custom design to my goalie mask, but I've never been very good at painting, and have extremely limited expiriance with airbrushing (though my father does have a gun and compresser I could probably liberate). So I'm wondering if anyone has come across something that I could use to draw/ink a design onto the mask that will allow me to create complex, colorful design. It is made of a fiberglass/kevlar composite and has the texture of plastic.

I finished this just in time to get it to the store before they closed. Like Douglas Adams said..."I love deadlines. I love the whooshing sound they make as they go by".

Thanks for looking :)

I just came from a Broadcasting orientation class.
I never thought that would interest me...but it does!

I've got an idea for a craft show! Like, how to alter and crochet and fun stuff.
What would be some things you'd want to see?

[not saying you'd probably see the show, just generally, what would be the best things to show?]

Things I like #11

I started sewing things I like last summer. This time I made a stuffed version of my sewing machine (almost in the original size).

Hey, all!

So I'm teaching English in Japan to high school students, and they are just adorable.

I like to have them do worksheets where they are creative and draw something, then maybe write a sentence or two in English. They seem to really like it too.

The thing is...I never realized how many papers teachers accumulate! After they're graded, what do you do? I just can't bring myself to throw them away (and they don't want them back).

I wanted to do something crafty with them! If I can't think of anything else, I'll chuck them into a scrapbook to remember my time here, but can anyone else think of something cool to do with hilariously adorable paper drawings and English sentences?

I'll be sure to post pics of whatever I end up doing!
Thanks in advance!
