It's been a while since I put together a piece of jewelry, which makes me sad. I'm stage managing a show and don't have as much (or any!) free time, so I've been in a craftless rut. Sad, isn't it? However, I was sicky pants yesterday, so I seized the opportunity to put together some jewelry. The majority of the beads used came from my mother's and grandmother's jewelry stashes. My birthday was the 10th, and they rounded up a bunch of old stuff they don't wear any more for me to reconstruct. So, here's a piece I made entirely from recycled beads behind the cut )

Also, I bought a copy of Cloth Paper Scissors this weekend and LOVE it! As soon as I have more free time, I'll be multimedia-ing it up. I can't wait!

Thanks for looking. :)

I painted these egg ornaments in a holiday theme early because I'd blown out a dozen and didn't have any idea what I wanted to do with them. I started brainstorming for ideas over two months ago and when I finally decided on my designs, I wanted to test them.

They worked well (most of them) and instead of waiting until christmas when everyone else will be doing their holiday posts, I decided to go ahead and get mine out of the way.

Also, this way I won't forget. Ha.

are you egg-cited yet? )

And in my previous ornament post, I used pony beads... [livejournal.com profile] hardcoregirl suggested pony beads made the work look cheap (I agree) so I steered clear of them this time and used pretty stuff. Your opinions please?

So I tried to sign up for it so I can actually take a good look at the patterns they have....but when I did it said that it couldn't process my request. I filled out ALL the info and read the agreement terms and check the lil box....and STILL nothing.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something wrong with the website?

Well, it's certianly been a loooong time since I posted something that wasn't text only, and a stupid question. But here's an update on what I've been up to. I posted to craftster a week or so ago, and will be cross-posting with the crochetcrochet community, so my apologies for any of you who have seen it before.

So... can you..... Spot the Craft??

Made a journal for my friend Julie :)

So I recently entered into the foray of bag making.

This first one was a test run almost. I made this with my sister so she could show me how to do it cos at first I thought it was completely  mind-boggling.

Ive been using this one for everyday use. Everyone in my work has been commenting on it because the fabric is from there so they all know it is handmade, lol. :)

This second bag I have made for my best friend in Canada. I made this one really big so she could use it for books etc for going to class. I really like this fabric and I made her this bag as I had already made her a laptop cosy with the same material. I kinda improvised with this one... instead of using exact measurements for the straps etc I just kinda went with it and did it by eye etc. It feels really sturdy and I think it looks good.

The lining is a tad :-S because I used a pillowcase and the original stitcing on that was a bit shoddy. Needless to say I wont be using that idea again lol.

Free?!

I tried looking in the memories for this, but I didn't know what to look for. :(

I was wondering if anyone knew where to get free stuff. Like free fabric scraps/samples, free paper scraps/samples & so on. Basically anything that a craft or art place would throw out that I could use for various crafts. Do crafting places put this kind of stuff in their dumpsters? Or do you need to ask for them?

I basically want anything free that I can use for crafting! [I'm pretty much broke.]

Thanks girls!

Now, steel yourselves for the fire hazard that lurks in my back room. I present to you Fabric Mountain.

I'm putting together a care package for the boyfriend who is now 2,443 miles away in San Jose, CA. He's a huge dork, but the awesome kind and now works for Apple. So I made him a simple hat and (messily) stitched the Apple logo on it.

And going with the nerdiness, I made him a Space Invaders hat based on the Knitty Space Invaders socks. I'm really proud of the fair isle work on it, but like an idiot, I made the hat too small (he and I both have big heads). But I'm still sending it anyway because it's got some geeky-goodness going on.

Invaders! Possibly from Space! )

Following in the vein of the button pendants I posted a few days ago, I finally took a picture of the bracelet I made way before I made the pendants. I used two of my fave vintage buttons that I got in a grab bag from Michaels.
