Finally!  I managed to surface from my frantic sewing and mad science long enough to post some pictures of the stuff!

Pretty things )

I have a couple other projects going that I'm slaving away to complete before Wednesday night, more in the "mad scientist" vein. (Ok, mad craftswoman.  I leave the science up to my darling.)  I'll just link you to the Flickr photo galleries, as they're works in progress.

I have a cat that doesn't like going out in wet weather, which means pretty much the whole next six months. He really wants to play, but most things I do fail to amuse. What's your best cat toy design to keep this emo kitty happy until spring? 'Cause if he isn't happy, he'll tell me about it constantly.

Sculpey

I made some thin and flat beads out of sculpey, baked them at 275 for 15 minutes (and again for 8 more minutes after they'd cooled) and they're still really flexible.

What can I do to make them hard? Am I baking them wrong?

I'm just afraid that if I go ahead and make my bracelet, they'll break when I wear it.

Another sushi pouch.  I made a uni nigiri pouch before, and someone told me she doesn't like uni.  I told her I will make her a pouch with nothing but uni on, so she will be brainwashed and starting to love uni! >:D

But then, I don't want to make her cry and lose all her appetite,  I made a salmon and tamago nigiri combo :P

Craftgrrls:

I am trying to do a craft with revamping these sunglasses, but i am having trouble with popping the lenses out. They are plastic frames. I tried to pop them out like normal, but I'm afraid that I'm going to break them.

Does anyone have any suggestions besides going to a lenscraftster to get the lenses out?

Lenscraftster is my last resort.

Thanks! :)

We couldn't find any good pumpkins this year and they're all gone now, so I just have to put up the pictures of last year's pumpkin to make me feel better.

Hey everyone. I looked in the memories but couldn't find any help for making a beret type hat. I am being a 50s girl scout for halloween and I wanted to make a hat. I made a small beret, but it looks terrible. I want it to look like this!

I tried using this site http://www.sewmodestclothing.com/makeaberet.shtml
But it seriously looked terrible when i made it. Does anyone have any suggestions, or just describe what size/shape pattern pieces would lead me to sewing this type of beret?? Would it just be a large circle and a long strip of fabric for the head band part? Help me!! Thank you!!

A little early yet, but oh well! I made this yesterday. A paring knife, a spoon, and my elbows covered in pumpkiny goodness. What more could a person ask for?

 Hey girls,

Dont hit me but Im beginning to plan my christmas presents. Since last year I like to make them in some way to give them a personal touch.

For one of my sisters Im thinking of making her placemats using a family photo they had taken. My question is this. I was thinking of buying these cork placemats from Ikea...

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10065703

and was wondering if I could adhere the picture to it? I was also wondering if it would be ok to use spray on adhesive on top of the picture and put plastic vinyl on top of it or if contact paper would work just as well... I could easily get a hold of each product so thats not a problem... just want the one that will look better and be more effective.

TIA

Love Kat x

Taken with my cell, sorry for the crappy quality! I made the pattern myself after one I saw online, used a steak knife, melon baller and a lot of patience.

I spent most of last night finishing this rug/throw/car blanket?

I'm just glad to be finished with it so I can start knitting other things.

Also, here is an owl I carved into a pumpkin.

This year I decided to take a stab at peeling the skin off a pumpkin and carve something fun. Say hello to Tiki Man!

i'm kind of cheating, cause this was from two years ago, but since everyone is sharing the pumpkin fun, i thought i'd share with you.

so, um, not really "crafty" but glue related.

What kind of glue would be best to affix a plastic needle to my chest (for halloween): krazy, tacky, mod podge or rubber/paper cement?

Yeah. Any fast help would be great.

I'm so proud of this! )
