My name's Michelle, I'm new here. I like to knit, bead, and make lotions, soaps, etc. I hope there are other people who make bath and body products as well!

I've been into cutting up old plaid skirts and shirts and such. Here are a few things I've made, and a couple of other things as well.

I posted my tutorial for my recent "tie scarf" post. I only gave myself a 1/2 hour to write the thing so please forgive my terrible grammar and punctuation. I was really trying to get it up here soon so peeps could make them as gifts for the holidays if they wanted.

Do NOT forgive, however, any information that does not make sense. Let me know and I'll post more pics or explanation. I'm making a second one this weekend so I can take more pics if anything is confusing and I'll make sure to add those.

And if you make one, post a picture!!!!

tutorial is here (picture heavy)

James has this blanket it's dark blue and it's like 3 years old but it still soaks everything in blue dye when you wash it. Can we do anything to cement the dye? We just wash it seperatly as it is now.

Hey everyone.

I haven’t been able to afford a nice fake white Christmas tree but I wanted to finally show off my vintage ornaments. So, I decided to make my own tree!

First, I'll show you the necklace I made.
It's made of very simple materials: flat glass marbles, "9001" craft glue, and a 4 leaf clover.

they're always after me lucky charms )

I just found this wonderful place, and I really like it. I thought I'd show my latest craft if that's alright with everyone.

It's an ornament I made for my boyfriend. I like the way it turned out. It cost me almost $10 in supplies, but I ended up with a lot of things left over that I plan on putting to use in other crafts. The heart says "Our First Christmas" in case you can't see it.

Hold me tight, we're drifting in these murky waters.
Sushi romance sweet and salty.
Deep into the sea we go, bubbles floating to the sun.
Hold me tight, my love, away we go.

I'm knitting my 80 something year old grandfather the Danica scarf from Knitty...
What I can't figure out is what colours to use...
Navy and gold (he was in the navy)
or
Grey and scarlet (he went to ohio state)

orrrr Navy and grey with gold accent diamonds or light grey and dark grey with scarlet accent diamonds

Suggestions?

edit: thanks guys! After second guessing myself about a billion time while ordering yarn I've decided to go with navy and grey with gold accents. His time in the navy was definitely more important than OSU. :P
Don't fret though, OSU fan...I think I'm going to make my dad a buckeye hat :D

Leo's recycled sweater

I also made him a striped shirt from some horribly stretchy striped fabric. I couldn't turn it under so I just serged the edge. I did manage to applique a little anchor on it from the same fabric.

Found some more knits to make him some more shirts and looking for more old sweaters to recycle.

I'm planning on making my Grandmother-in-law a photo memory tray. Has anyone ever made one of these? I bought the tray at Michaels after not being able to find what I had originally intended on. So it's a rather cheap tray with a plastic cover. There aren't any screws so it's possible that the photos could dislodge. I bought some really nice gold scrapbooking paper to use as the background. Is it okay to use mod podge on scrapbooking paper? How about photographs? I've only used mod podge a few times and I don't want to mess anything up. I've already spent $35 or so on this project and would rather not have to buy anyhing else. Who knew that making presents could be just as expensive as buying them?

Recycled Polaroid

Failed to capture Hikki (my Annz doll0 under the 2feet minimum distance ($4 down the drain) and another useless photo of my Hello Kitty fabric (add $2). So I decided to recycle my polaroids by doing some magazine montage! All cut-outs from project smitten magazine #3. :)

Click on the thumbnails to view the other two montages I made as well as the original bad photos )
