my family has had this Mrs Claus cookie jar my whole life. but as you can see, she's gone through quite a bit in the last 19 years - from people putting her in the dishwasher, sigh - and I'd like to fix her up this year.

two more )

her dress and entire backside used to be red (you can see some chips on her top and at the bottom of her apron) and I think her bow and mittens were black?

my question is, since she's got a glaze finish and all, can I just paint her with regular acrylic craft paint and then seal/varnish her somehow? I'm not going to be painting the inside so I'm not really worried about it being food-safe, but speaking of which, do they make a food-safe varnish anywhere for ceramics and such?

thank you in advance for any help <3

New to knitting...so I made a simple straight knit scarf with acrylic yarn, I believe it's Carlton?  Anyway, the stuff is not that soft.  I was thinking about soaking it in a bath of fabric softener or vinager overnight to soften...anyone else try this?  Other suggestions?  The memories section in knitting didn't have anything...Thanks in advance!

I've had a week off work and been doing a few crafty things - including working on some tie-dying with a friend.

Has anyone here done saltwater etching? Or any type of (metal) etching? What did you do? Any pictures?

How safe is it/how expensive is it, especially compared with acid etching?

What do I do with my old bras that don't fit me anymore, aren't good enough to donate, and begging to be revamped?

What do I do with my old socks that have huge holes in the bottoms (near the toes) and don't want to be thrown in the garbage?

(Cross posted!)

I remember a while ago that someone painted a Guitar Hero guitar controller with glitter paint. I'm pretty sure it was on here, but there's always the possibility that I might be hallucinating. I've searched the memories, but I came up empty-handed.

Does anyone know where this post was? I'd really appreciate it.

I found some velvet the other day and i wanted to make something out of it, so i made a pair of arm socks as well as a few small pouches.

( Follow the fake cut to find them )
