If you have yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks, pattern books, or other needlecraft supplies that you are no longer using and would like to find a home for, post your giveaways here! If you are looking for a particular type of yarn but can't find it anywhere, post wanted ads with us.
Keep perfectly usable materials out of the landfills and out of the backs of closets where the moths can chew them up and create something fabulous with somebody else's castoffs!
This is NOT a swapping or trading community. Giveaways/freebies ONLY!

it says to let item dry completely * and I left it sitting for 3 days for good drying measure*iron with a dry iron then peel paper backing off, well the paper backing won't come off, and I am getting very annoyed, and I am worried I am going to ruin the piece. I've ironed it till it's hot to the touch like one direction said, still not able to peel the paper off, I've tried ironing both the paper side and the designed side, no luck either , and the package isn't any help either, and there's no customer support number or anything

I made a tutorial for Keyhole tops! Yippee!
And: if you have a website where you sell handmade goods:
I've been working a lot on revamping WhatTheCraft, and I've really expanded the Resource section (which is now the "Directory").
I'm working on compiling links of good fabric and other craft supply sites, free tutorials, and people selling handcrafted and DiY items. If you'd like your site to be added to the Buy + Sell Handmade directory, comment here, or email me at what.the.craft [at] gmail.com - Just please post a reciprocal link back to WhatTheCraft from your site / lj / myspace / or whatever, it'd be much appreciated!!
I'll also be selecting one site from the directory to feature in the new WhatTheCraft blog each week!
Re-usable/dual purpose gift card holders?
Dec. 9th, 2007 01:05 pmHave any of you made or decorated gift card holders that can be re-used for non-gift card purposes? Like hanging ornaments, picture frames, or a useful container? I'm trying to queue up some ideas for my sisters' gifts ("put the card in a six-pack of beer" is fine for their husbands...). I don't know how to knit or crochet, but I'm good with quilting and collage.
So this is not text only, I offer a photo of my assistant inspecting my work:

It was a moonlit night, your eyes shone red -- or was it just the wine?
Fingerprint left on shattered glass, we're just another case in the files.

hi there everyone. i have a ceramics related question. i go to an art school and am taking a ceramics class as an elective....hense, it is not my major!
being the end of the semester, the kiln shop has stopped doing bisque firing, and is only doing glaze firing til the end of the semester. DOES ANYONE KNOW if i can skip the bisque firing and just take a high fire clay piece, glaze, and then glaze fire it? much appreciated

Here is some of the jewelry my mom has made in the past few years. Just thought I'd share. :)
( JEWELRY! )
I need rag paper for art class on Tuesday. Printmaking, fyi. Does Michaels carry it?
I live between the city and the 'burbs... so it's like, do I drive out to the burbs to see if they have it at Michaels, or just suck it up and go to the city to a real art supply store... sorry if this is random and off topic. Hopefully someone knows!
