Does anyone else make Barbie clothing? I know I'm about to sound like the queen dork here, but I really enjoyed collecting Barbies as a kid. I've recently became re-interested and bought a few new dolls. I have to admitt I was intrigued when I saw Barbie's new line of "Top Model" dolls. I found out this new line of dolls is made with Mattel's, recently introduced, new Barbie body Called "Modelmuse" It's basically a long lean model type Barbie, who instead of being totally bendable, is pretty much stuck in a fashion model pose. But with this new Barbie body there are almost no clothes to fit them. After searching the net for info on these Barbies (and being introduced to a whole new world of barbie collecting, OOAK and much more!!) And searching for any type of barbie pattern available for free (there are practically NONE) I took a stab at making some clothing myself. Here they are:

Okay so, I got this frame in the mail today, but can't seem to figure out how to mount it. I've been looking online for some sort of how-to with no such luck. When google doesn't have an answer for me, livejournal communities usually do!

So here is a photo of the frame plus the mounting pieces. It came with steel cable, two eye-hooks, and two anchors (???) with two little screws that go in each one.

Anyone know how to go about this? ^_^

For anyone curious, I'm framing a sweet piece of artwork by Billy Martinez. :B

Thanks in advance girls!!!

Hello, everyone.
I was wondering if any of you have done anything crafty with the fortunes from fortune cookies? I've been saving them for a while and have over 60 (oh, the lo mein!). Right now they are sitting in a wooden box with other memory-type things, but I was wondering if you gals had any ideas on something crafty (and more aesthetically pleasing) I could do with them.

I was quite productive last night :) I made two small acorns, the first was a little wonky but I got it straightened out and the second one was much better. Then made 2 lovely birds based off a drawing in my sketchbook from a few weeks ago. I love them!

When I woke up this morning my thread was in disarray, yes...it was quite a crazy night.

Thanks you guys for all the lovely comments, they definitey motivate me, can you tell? :)

I bought myself a sewing machine on the day after Thanksgiving, because we had them 60% off plus my associate discount, and I think I also had a coupon or something. Anyway. I bought a Brother VX-1435, and I used it for the first time today. And spent all frickin day on it. We got on pretty well, Sally (the sewing machine) and I, despite a few power struggles throughout the day. ;)

We even managed to make something:

What's inside you ask? )

I didn't use a pattern, I just had a general idea in my head of what I wanted. And of course my mom was there to give me some advice when I needed it, which made it easier. I think it came out pretty good, if I do say so myself. ;P

AKK! HELP!

So due to the amazingness of craigslist.com I got about 15 boxes of material.

I opened one, and there is MOUSE POO in the box.

Would you keep the stuff, or throw it out?? I was planning to wash everything anyway, but I really don't want to throw all this awesomeness away. It was sitting in a storage unit for quite some time, so that's how it got there.

Advice? Suggestions?

Hey I'm looking for a certain type of upholstery fabric online. i'm redoing a room in my house as a library and I need to reupholster a chair. I am doing it i a kind of earthy/ celtic theme, with the colors of a nice irish pub- the creams, the browns ect. I can only find a small selection on ebay, and I'd like to order a sample first. It also needs to be durable stuff. Anyone got any clues?

Hiya. ^^ I wanted to start working on some custom dolls (11.5", such as Barbie and similar fashion dolls), but I'm no good when it comes to making clothes free-hand. Does anybody here know where I can get some cheap or free basic doll clothes sewing patterns (e.g. tank tops, slacks, simple dresses), or do any of you have any that you're not needing/wanting anymore that you'd be willing to donate? ^^ Thanks in advance for any help. ^^

I made a birthday gift for a friend of mine! Sorry the photo isn't that clear -- I was trying to get it in lighting that would show the etching, but it didn't turn out the greatest. These are picture frames that I painted with her sons' two favorite colors and then etched each of their names on the front. Right this way! )

Something I just started doing, just the other day, but it seems like it will work. I use a regular tomato pin cushion, but my pinheads are always pulling on strings, fabrics etc and arranging lovely tangles. So, fed up with that, having some old socks around I cut from about the heel and kept foot portion and stuffed the cushion into there. Repeat as needed. Hopefully I won't end up with scarry messes again.

Any other handy tips to share up?

I have a question for everyone!
I've been wanting to make bookmarks...both ones I print off of my computer with pictures of my photography, and collage ones. However, I have no idea what paper would be best! So far I've used light card stock (all I have right now),  but I don't think it's nearly heavy enough to work properly....
So basically...what are your suggestions? What about photo paper? Or would that be a no-no?
