nothing to special i suppose... but i only finished it an hour ago and it took all evening and i'm proud haha...

i had a few friends over last night for drinks and we played pictionary, which just resulted in us being in fits of giggles until after 6am. the word was 'derail', one of them drew a picture and to encourage it he said 'chugga chugga' then he found out it was derail.... so when ever he couldn't guess the picture he'd go 'derail, fucking derail!'

ah... yes, one of those moments you had to be there i'm sure... but i'm still laughing. and my friend and i were laughing all day, so we both made some chugga chugga cushions.... here are pics of mine.

so on with the pictures...

What inspires you? Do you have a dedicated crafting space? Take a picture and share!

I've been having trouble with inspiration lately. We're moving in a week so at the new place I'm going to have my own crafty corner for my sewing/beading/everything else. I want to decorate it in a way that inspires my creativity. I plan to hang some masks I've made, maybe a pocket shrine on the desk, and keep a list of current projects where I can see it. and of course, material will be organized and easy to find! I'm tired of hauling out and rooting though a rubbermaid tub when I want to find something.

Additionally, this space will be far far away from the computer and the distractions of the internet.

Hanging over all will be a plaque/sculpture thingy of the goddess Brighid. She watches over poets and those that work with their hands, as well as home and hearth, and she is the keeper of the fires of inspiration. The yellow paint is drying as we speak--I'll have pictures soon.

Peace.

Thanks

I wanted to thank all of you in this community. I was overwhelmed with such positivity and helpful suggestions, and many empathizers. To all those who have lost a 'furchild' as one poster put it, we understand. i am going to use some of your suggestions, and i will surely post the results.

Thank you all again!! your support made me smile :)

A friend and I are making all gray outfits (original, not from a character's costume or something). I have a bunch of gray fabric scraps I've been collecting and I'm trying to think of accessories I can make to add to the outfits. Specifically, accessories we wear like jewelry as opposed to something one carries like a purse. So far, all I've thought of is wrist/arm warmers, bandanas, and maybe sash belts (not completely fond of the sash belt idea).

Any ideas? Anything you can think of, be it weird, funky, crazy, or nonsensical but perferablly something I can make out of fabric scraps!

For my birthday, a friend of mine sewed a version of a monster I created a while back.   (<-- link to the plush)

I was so excited to see him jump off of paper and into felt! Afterwards, I asked her if she would like to sew some designs I'd come up with so we could sell them jointly.  She was happy to do so!   I was even more excited then.  It's a great honor to have a friend bring my creations on paper to life with her hands. :)

I just thought I'd show one of our joint projects off here and see what kind of feedback I get.  I hope you enjoy!

This is going to soud really dumb, but I just sewed a bow and I want to put lace on the ends. I don't want to sew it on because I don't want to sew the back and front together.. How is the best way to apply lace? Also if I were to sew it is there a way to do it? I'm so lost.
Thanks!

Miles is finished!

This little guy was quite a project for me! Who knew making clothes could be so hard! I'm considering taking some actual pattern-drafting courses after this, because I love how his clothes turned out but there were times during the making of them where I wanted to tear my hair out!

He is made of pretend sheep fur, flannel, and felt details with cotton print ears.

His shirt is the same material I used for some of my barrettes - I think it would look gorgeous as a pair of little boy's pyjamas!

His overalls are blue corduroy and are nice and short because Miles loves to go down to the river and collect nice shaped stones and poke at frogs. He also loves to play on the swings at the park and see how high he can swing.

Miles is going to help the Softies for Mirabel appeal this July!

I've had lots of requests for more on how I create (both literally and the creative process). I don't really have a very creative "creative process" but I thought I would do this mini "you might not actually want to follow this" tutorial on how I made this shirt for one of my plushies.

(This is how I make clothes but I really would recommend you take a class or read a book or learn from a professional! I'm just lucky mine turn out alright in the end.)

Because my camera was the most craptastic ever...but I just bought a new one, so hopefully I will be able to post more.

The only things I've recently completed were magnetic boards.

auctionmode

This is the "auction mode" on my fancy new camera. ^.^ It shows the three uses for these boards: to prop up pages while you're trying to type from them, to hold important notes and bills, or as a photo frame.

I've been a busy little bee today, making earrings and a pendant and a bracelet. I had the day off work so I thought I'd drag out my beads for the first time in ages :)

Plus, I made a zombie....

pictures this way, lots of them! )
