I just started painting a couple months ago. I've never taken an art class or even been interested in art before that. Anyway, this is done on watercolor paper in acrylic craft paint (a sin, I know). I just started this art journal and need some friends so feel free to add me!

otherwise known as:
A better fitting, not butt ugly, carpal tunnel wrist brace.

Because I have notoriously bad arthritis, and carpal tunnel inflammation in my wrists and hands from all the stuff I do.

I bought one of those prefab stretchy beige things from the drugstore.
Despite it being a 'small' it still covered my pinky, and just didn't fit well.
Plus the velcro top closures hooked on everything, and let's face it, the thing was butt ugly.

So......

I made myself a better one. )

Here are some lariat necklaces I’ve made lately. I love the versatility of the lariat style…you can wear it long, layer it, etc. Plus, they are simple to make (here’s a basic tutorial). I use a hodge-podge of beads…glass, plastic, wood. I love to take apart jewelry from thrift stores and garage sales and such and use the beads on these. I am also obsessed with getting beads on clearance. The one I made the other night is all reds and oranges. I'll call it "Cherries of Fire":

Hey ladies.

A few of you might remember me from my old journal [livejournal.com profile] iluvacslater when I made the nursery with the stick mobile.

I then came back and asked about ways to incorporate my son's ashes into a necklace.

And now I'm back for more help!

I've decided to mix his ashes in with polymer clay and make a "sculpture", and then embed that in resin for long-term durability.
Now I've never used resin before, and I want to know if you can embed sculpey in it.
And also, I need to make a custom mold for the resin and I was wondering what you ladies use to make molds.
Can you use sculpey to make a mold if you use mold release?

Any other resin or sculpey tips you ladies would like to share would be greatly appreciated. I've never worked with either medium before, and though I do intend to practice a bit before I actually incorporate his ashes, I want to get as much info on them as I can.

I promise to post pictures when I'm done!
I'm also working on a painting that has some of his ashes in it, and I'll post that too!

Thanks in advance, gals!

I'm almost positive that there was a post here of steampunk jewelry not too long ago. But, I've gone back hundreds of entries and I haven't been able to find it. Does anyone remember that post? Help :(.

Hello Craft girls! I'm going to Greenwich Village for Halloween this year and am going to follow up my costume with what I did last year: A Cosplay of my favorite Chibi artist on deviant art: Celesse!

Last year I was CandyCorn-chan:

Ah, that feels better!

Good crafts and good photos, and plenty of time to sit down and crop and upload them, which is strangely one of my favourite parts of the whole process.

So here are the photos of my much bemoaned, long-awaited adventure into the world of charm making. I bravely (foolishly?) titled this shot August's Charms because I had the idea that I could bring out a whole new set of charms each month, like a series.

Not sure if I'll actually be able to or not, but it's a good challenge!

From top-left to bottom-right:

* Two apples, one with a worm.

* Maxwell the Penguin

* Yoshi eggs (navy blue, green, red, aqua, yellow, magenta)

* The apple again. Two Cheese Please apples are the apples hamsters prefer.

* Yoshi eggs again.

* Donuts (chocolate swirl, white iced with sprinkles, and... pink-dot flavour, which may or may not be a legitimate flavour)

Does anyone know where to get the sort of styrofoam bead sizes that are good for filling beanbag chairs with? I checked Walmart, Michaels, and Hobby Lobby and couldn't find anything. Hobby Lobby came the closest with microbeads, but those are way too tiny and not cost effective for as much as I would need. I've found some online sources but the sheer size of the bags makes shipping fairly expensive, so I was hoping for stores I might be able to find in my area.

Thanks in advance!

I have postcards that I'd like to attach to some unfinished wood beams (they're about 100 years old, not splintery or anything, but definitely an uneven surface) in my apartment. However, because I like to complicate things, I don't want to use pushpins or put holes in the postcards. That said, how would you go about attaching the postcards to the wood (non permanently)? I'm thinking some sort of tape, but I don't want to go experimenting, especially if someone has an idea.

x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] saucyhelp, hopefully you didn't have to read this twice
