baby beads

I have a six month old baby who loves to pull on the little silver pendant I usually wear. While going through some old jewellery, I found a bracelet made up of about twenty chunky lampwork style beads. I was thinking of using them to make myself some kind of necklace that I could wear that he could play with and put in his mouth safely. I have seen nursing necklaces before kind of for a similar purpose.

For safety, I will need to knot between each bead. Any ideas for what kind of cord I could use to string the beads? How do I knot between the beads, like a knot with the beads tight up against them? What kind of clasp would be secure with cord?

Any ideas are appreciated!

What are you favourite embellishments for garments and bags and the like?

I love ruffles and want to start fancying up regular patterns with some pretty extras, but I'm not really sure where to start. Gathers seem bulky and tricky to distribute evenly, and I think I figured that a ruffle is a curved piece, right?

I found this tutorial on how to do pintucks, and also learned the afterwards-obvious trick of making the pintucks before laying your pattern down - so simple and so did not occur to me :\

Any tips?!

This is the third plush car I've designed (and my first that isn't fannish!), this time as a commission. She was very happy with it, which makes me happy, too :-)

It's a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

As with all the other cars I've done, the headlights glow in the dark. I was in a rush to send out the car and didn't have time to try for a photo with the lights out.

my lastest crochet critter.
A strange pink possum creature, who likes to wear big stompy boots and stomp around on your rooftop at night.

This was a really special commission, to symbolise the really special bond between a mother and daughter. The mother came to me with a gorgeous design that Cathey Osborne did for her on commission earlier. The design involved a stylized mother and daughter figure dancing.

My task was to adjust this design a wee bit so it would be perfect for a pendant and make it in fine silver. In all, I am very happy with the outcome, and just love the 'flow' of this pendant.

Mother's pendant is on the left, and the Daughter's pendant is on the right. Both are the same size, and made of fine silver, the only difference is the style of the chain.
