Needing some advice/help...
Nov. 14th, 2008 11:30 amI know that all your creative minds can help me out!! :)
Issue #1: Where to find mason jars/ball jars/canning jars this time of year? I could have sworn they would have them at Wal-Mart, but no dice.
Issue #2: I found this great idea to make a "memory jar" (jar full of (hopefully) 365 memories of a person, allowing them to read one each day) for my grandparents, who are 92 and 93. The issue here is what to have them do with the memories they've pulled out (likely strips of paper or cardstock). The only realistic thing I'd thought of so far was something like a clothesline, but I don't think either of them would be able to manipulate mini-clothespins effectively, and large ones would probably look silly. Ideas?? I hate to have them just stuff the "used" ones in a box or another jar; I'd rather they were able to display them somehow. And keep in mind that there will be quite a few by the time we're done, so a small bulletin board, etc, would not work! :)
And so that I'm not ONLY asking for help, ( here's a scarf I made for my mom... )

Toddler Lounge Pants
Nov. 14th, 2008 02:18 pmI'm thinking of sewing my nephew a pair of flannel lounge pants for Christmas - he's 2.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a pattern? Or maybe there's an easy way to draft a pattern (that doesn't require his pants.) or an online tutorial??
Thanks.

So...for the kitties...
Nov. 14th, 2008 09:30 pmWe run a small independent cat/kitten shelter, and always need new toys for them. like socks in a washer or dryer, they simply disappear. Also, when someone adopts a kitty, we send along their favourite toys to their new home with them.
Anyone have tutorials or sites where we can find small, simple toys? I know about the catnip-filled baby socks, and the catnip-stuffed crocheted tubes. I was kind of hoping for knitted/crocheted mice, etc. Or those felted balls/mice.
Ideas?
Donations?
