i am going to attempt to make gel candles but with out the wick. what im actualyl making is a christmas scean inside a vase and fill it with clear gel...or resin? would resin be too heavy/ expensive? i took pine cones from my tree out front and dried them out in my oven to remove any bugs and sap. im painting them green turning it upside down to look like a christmas tree and putting that stucko like snow on the tips. then gluing beads to look like ornaments and making a star for the top out of scupty clay. then making lil presents and stuff for under the "tree" and placing all this in a long cilinder vase and filling it. i just dont know what to fill it with. resin or gel candle stuff. i know the gel candle stuff gets weird and dusty on top after a while but the resin might be too heavy? which is less costly? anyone have any tips to share?

Any ideas of where to find 6" tulle spools for cheap? I'm in Minnesota if that matters.

It gets me SO ANGRY because I know I saw some for SUPER cheap a while ago and now I can't remember.

Thank you!

I'm making soap, but when I tried to make the lye mixture, it formed a rock hard crust on the bottom of my stainless steel pan.

lye?

I used 28 oz of cold water, slowly added 12 oz of lye while stirring, and then let it sit outside for a while until it cooled off.

What did I do wrong? How do I dissolve it?

That fulfills today's morbid quota. Enjoy!
