Pink D'Artagnan Felt Pin

In between making some more Blue Beard pins I made this guy.
When I was finished I thought he looked a bit like a Musketeer!

Can anyone recommend a place to get a quality high whorl and a low whorl drop spindle online?

Thank you!

Hello thar, craftgrrls!

I am looking for advice on a die cutter. It will be my first. I want something that will cut through fabric, felt, foam, etc. I'm mostly looking to use it for crafting with my daughter. I need something sturdy and under a hundred bucks. I would also love something that has a wide range of (what do you call them?) plates/templates/cuts or accepts other cuts, like a cricut on a sizzix, etc. Do they have machines that do that?

I like the Sizzix Big Shot cutter, but I'm not sure if it's mainly b/c it's cutesy, pink and black. I've been reading reviews and what I think I understand is that the Big Shot and the Big Kick are essentially the same machine and both take a wider range of cuts.

Then I started thinking that maybe I want something by someone else, not Sizzix. I started looking around and I see machines like "Cricut" and "Cuttlebug".

Anyway, I was hoping to get some advice and opinions from someone who has worked with a few different machines and knows what's what.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry if this gets asked every other day. I scrolled a bit and didn't see it, so forgive me if my noob is showing.

Hi. Looong time lurker, first time poster.

I had to put a website together for one of my classes this semester, and a page is dedicated to my jewelry. Now I have pictures of some of my stuff to post here. And I finally have time to make a post. So anyway, some of the pictures aren't that great, but I'm over it. Enjoy!

Ignore the lame names I gave each piece. )

Yesterday I showed off the morbid side of my recent polymer clay bonanza; today I’ve finished up the photographing and editing and what-have-you of the rest of them, and I’m excited to share. Shall we?

MOAR! )

Thank you for your time and interest!

I'm giving a lot of record bowls away this Christmas, so these will be perfect for me!

I bought one of those cigar shaped cat nip things in the pet store for my cats. Apparently they really love it, but I don't want to keep buying them at the price they are in the pet store. I'm sure I can make it cheaper (and keep around leftovers to keep making more). What kind of cloth would one buy for this? And other than cat nip, what else do they generally get filled with (meaning, I know to put cat nip in, but what else to give it shape)? The one I have is starting to leak cat nip, but the cats haven't destroyed it to the point that I can see what else is used to fill it. I'm also asking what kind of cloth because the one I have, I don't like how the cloth has worn. It's a cheap fleece of some sort, and the cats can pull out the fleece stuff.

<<<<UPDATE>>>>
I wonder how hard it would be to make a type of 3D  christmas tree from fabric?  I just looked through my craft materials to see what I have most of, and while i dont have much cardboard  I do have alot plain cotton fabric. I was thinking of putting  a glue solution over the fabric and then making a sort of bell shape of it, and then stacking multiple ones on top of each other, so that the end result  ends up looking something like this: http://www.weblogsinc.com/common/images/9412176874342621.JPG?0.08715768018761894
(
the one on the right, but then bigger)
im gonna test this out in paper first, if i succeed in doing this ill let you guys know!

This year it looks like my family won't have enough money to spend on a christmas tree (they are pretty expensive here, starting at about 25 euros for the cheap (and usually ugly) ones)  i don't really know anyone who would lend us their fake tree either.

Now usually the christmas  tree is kind of the centerpiece of our celebration, its what we put the gifts under, its what makes the whole house feel like christmas to me.

now the problem is not that i can't think of anything to replace the christmas tree with, because i have plenty of ideas (buying some nice branches, putting them in a vase, decorating them with some lights for example, or making a giant paper origami tree)
but the problem is that i dont think my ideas would be really any cheaper then the christmas tree itself xD (for the branch idea id have to buy branches, buy lights (we have huge old fashioned xmas lights i dont think they would look good at all on just some twigs xD) or have to buy alot of paper etc)

so I kind of want something of a fairly big size (roughly a meter high or so) and that would not require me to spend (much) money on it..
any ideas?

I had some extra felt laying around and wanted to make something actually useful.

So I made this:

Thursday night was our annual General meeting for our horticultural society. It was also our Mini Christmas Show. There were seven classes to enter and I decided to enter all of them. I did quite well, winning three firsts and four seconds. The pictures of my entries follow.
Flower Show entries here )
And so ends this year's flower shows. It took me almost two weeks doing all the work on these entries, but worth the effort.
