Hi!
I made this wall hanging for my brother and his girlfriend. These are imprints of my nephew's hand and foot from when he was but a month old. I made this for them for Christmas but I also wish I had made one for myself.

This is a Norman knight based on the figures in the Bayeux Tapestry.

This was one of those projects that just took over once I had the idea. My friend is studying medieval history so I thought it would be nice to make a figure of a knight. Then I couldn't find many good references for 11th- or 12th-century armor so I started looking at the Bayeux Tapestry. The figures are so charming and lively, I was hooked. With the help of a couple of library books I designed this guy and learned a lot about the conquest of England in the process.

He's made of felt with applique, embroidery and couched thread. I tried to stay close to the handful of colors that were used in the "tapestry" which is actually an embroidery on linen with wool thread.

And a question: I want to make a wire armature for a project and it seems like the best way to hold it together would be soldering. If you work with wire and have other ideas, I'd love to hear them. If you have a soldering iron and have any tips, I'd love to hear those too!

After completing (and posting about) the first hat I made, I sought out general hat and hat making communities. I found a couple about specific types. So I created one and posted details of my project.

I'm need to make a uterus as part of a sculpture-thing for school. Hopefully semi-realistic.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about this? I already know what I'm going to use for the tubes, etc, but as far as the main body of the uterus goes, I'm stumped. And let's not forget about the FIMBRIAE, too!

I don't know how to knit or crochet, but I can sew. Any ideas?

Thought other crafty people would enjoy this article based on the Gaiman movie coming out:

The Handmade Tale: Coraline's Inventive DIY Effects

(the article progresses as you hit 'next image' rather than next page)

Also, 50 boxes were sent out with prop pieces from the movie as promotions:

I need to find images similar to this

http://www.clker.com/cliparts/f/e/5/d/1223247965284045636George%20Washington%20Day.svg.med.png

of all of the presidents (each one separately).

I found a website with coloring pages on them, here:
http://www.freekidscoloring.com/american/presidents/

Although that website has line drawings of the others, I really wanted something more filled out, like the first image, which has some substantial shading and stuff. I looked around to see if there was a font on sites like dafont.com that had them, but I didn't see any.

I don't have any kind of photoshop program on my computer, otherwise I'd sift through and find the images I want to use and make stencils of them, since that's sort of the kind of image look I'm going for. Kind of.

My feet were cold so I didn't last very long at the studio today. But I did manage to make 2 awesome bags from some vintage fabric I have been loving. :) Wanna see?

Hello, I really hope someone can give me some advice!
I use Fimo to sculpt little chibis and such. They usually have wild, springy bangs that hang in front of their eyes (intentionally :P) The problem: after baking I want to paint them. But I can't reach beneath the bangs :(
So, my question: )

Painted bag! )

See them! )

I'm going to London for a couple of days and was wondering if there are any must-visit crafty places I should go to?

Any recommendations welcome!

Hi this is a text only post but I promise pictures when finished! I need to get hold of some small,, cheapish (silver?) buckles to make fastenings around my upper arms as part of a costume. I found a site in the states but I need the costume in a fortnight time so postage would be a bit too tight (express postage too costly). Can anyone suggest somewhere to look in the UK? I don't live near enough to anyhere to pop in on the off-chance at the moment :(

Hiya, sorry this question isn't super crafty but I thought maybe someone here might be able to help. I bought a nice vintage dress with light fluffy layers of chiffon (tulle) recently. However, there is a small tear in the fabric. It is so light that I'm not sure how to mend it. I heard there was a type of glue that you can use on this kind of fabric. Does anyone know the best way to go about fixing it?

Thanks!
