A week or two ago I asked if there would be any interest in a post with all of the Christmas gift ideas I'd gathered because I was starting really early, and the answer was a resounding yes...so here you go.

This was my very first attempt at decoupage, and I was pretty happy with how they came out, but I could be happier. Specifically, the Mod Podge left streaks across the surface, rather than being smooth and shiny. Does anyone know what I did wrong, or how to avoid streaking? I don't know how obvious it is in the photo, but it is actually textured - you can feel it if you run your finger over the surface.

Another photo and technique behind cut )

I have fallen in love with decoupage! I just need to figure out how to get a shiny, smooth varnish like I see in all the example pictures!

This is kind of out there, but does anyone know anything about painting on moose antlers? my boyfriends dad wants me to do some lettering for him on one, and I'm not sure what kind of paint to use and its a rough surface so I'm a little nervous! Thanks!!

Robbie's Room Robbie's Room

I finally finished the tree and birds in our baby's room! The tree, leaves, and bird bodies are made with acrylic painted on contact paper (so all is removable), and the wings on the birds are made with spare scrapbooking paper. Click for more photos!

Hello fellow crafters!

I have this pair of purple shoes that unfortunately bore me to death. I had this great idea to decoupage pages torn from an old 60's smut sci-fi book (I have a pile of them laying around...don't ask) and then seal them. However, when I started layering it using Modge Podge, the dry effect was crumply and uneven. Is there a better way to do this? Or if not, how would I go about perhaps putting fabric over them?

Hi all,

The Boy has a birthday coming up and for part of his gift I want to do something with photos of us. I have a ton of photos of us taken with the camera on my computer (hooray for photobooth!). They look cute in sequence and I'd like to do something with that, but I'm not sure what.

Here's an example of the kind of photos I'm talking about:

Any ideas?
Thanks!
