I made this for a swap on Craftster and was really pleased with how it came out. :)

I used a combination of card stock and scrapbook paper. The card stock butterflies I folded to bring their wings up, as if in flight. Some of the scrapbook ones I doubled, putting one directly on top of another to give it a 3D effect. Because of the depth of the shadowbox frame, there’s plenty of room for them to “flutter” their wings.

It’s a fun take on a traditional specimen or botanical print. No butterflies are harmed in the making of this one!

A couple of months ago, I decided to start making my own jewelry displays out of card stock. I was getting ready for my first show, and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on displays since I didn't know if it would be successful or not.

I couldn't find a design for an earring display that I liked, so I decided to design my own:

I posted pictures and vowed to post a tutorial if it held up. Unfortunately, it didn't do so hot at the show. The humidity caused it to droop down. However, I really love these for photography, and they'd probably be good for indoor shows. Hence, I am keeping my vow. I'd love any suggestions for making it sturdier, though.

I have a slight obsession with saving every fortune I get. Any ideas on how to display them? Right now I just tape them to my desk and stick them in my wallet or any pouch with a zipper.

Hi. So! I got this 2010 Tokidoki calendar that I want to use as art on a wall in my bedroom. This is my first "grownup" apartment and I put all of my posters and such in frames, but I can't find any frames for calendar pages.

Does anyone have any ideas?

hahaha...

I needed a hanger to display stuff at the craft shows I've been doing... SO I MADED ME ONE!! )

I am *endlessly* proud of this silly thing... XD

I tell you what, setting up a table is long and tiresome work.
I'm a lazy person.

Rather than spending ten to fifteen minutes setting up a table, and then spending about the same (or longer) breaking it down, I made things much simpler by building something to display my jewelry on. It didn't cost me much: a total of less than $8.00 and it holds my necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

caught Eno taking so many pics.
the old way. Lots of display boxes. How annoying.

I'm working on not spending any money and having great success... I only pay my loan payments and other misc bills. This project resulted from needing something to do in between job applications (oh, I've written probably a billion cover letters in the last month) and not having a lot of money to spend on that "something to do."

Cost Analysis:

Hangers - $1.00 from goodwill
Paints - $1.00 from joann
Birds - $2.00 from michaels
Photos - $2.00 from walgreens
Mattes - $4.00 from michaels

GRAND TOTAL = $10

I saw this on someone's blog at some point a few months ago, I didn't have the link or even remember anything about it really. I freestyled.  The process was pretty simple, just sanded the finish of the hangers, painted my design, and mounted my pictures.  You can click the images for a larger view.

I love all of the record earring holders, but they just do not work for me. Mostly they are too large,... and I would feel bad about using even a horrible record to make one. So I came up with this ~
