I am a new designer of cute, glittery, fun and affordable fashion. My success, however, has been limited not by the quality or the designs of my work, but the lack of opportunities for people like myself.
In the summer, I had a stall in Camden market (London) and thought that I would be met with respect, even if people didn't like my work, but instead, I had people being rude all day, and criticizing my work for no good reason.
So, needless to say, I now have no stall, and am still making these lovely clothes.
At the moment, i have some lovely glitter star-burst skinny fit t-shirts that will also fit girls (or boys ) of a proper size. They cost £15 each (or US equivalent) + postage, which I believe is a bargain for a totally unique and handcrafted piece of wearable fashion.
Should anyone be interested, please e-mail me at rainbow_grrluk@yahoo.co.uk, and I promise to get back to you with more details as soon as possible, or just leave a note here. Thankyou!

Alright, here's the deal.. anyone that's selling tshirts they've gotten screenprinted PLEASE get in contact with me! I'm looking for smalls and Mediums :D I am looking for any screenprinted tshirts in small and medium. (Oh, I accept YL too!) and will pay up to (EXTREME MOST) $12. I preffer $10 includding shipping if possible, but its okay if they're a tiny bit more. I'm just really low on cash and such, having to be financially independent in a litle over six months.
So ANY screen printed shirts are appreciated :D Thanks so much, guys!

I woke up this morning and decided that it would be fun to make paper. I know how to make the pulp, but any tips on forming it (without buying a special kit) would be appreciated. Could I just squish it between two baking sheets with paper towels for blotting? Or would the paper towels just stick to it? Thanks!

I just thought I'd point out to anyone who loves doing origami(I certainly do!) that there's a great online site called Morning Glory Az that sells origami paper for really cheap.

They sell lucky star paper strips in different color sets(Rainbow, pastel, glow in the dark, hologram, etc.), and pretty origami in different sizes for different purposes. Almost everything they sell is $1 for the standard amount.

They ship super fast, and are super nice. It's a great store, and inexpensive origami paper is hard to come by.

i was reading about concerns regarding multiple postings/questions about the same topic...it would be helpful if more people but something in the subject line so that going back in the calender to search for answers on a topic would be easier. also try using a few words more specific, so if you have a question about glue for those glass magnets, rather than just "glass magnets", maybe say " glue for magnets" or something like that. just a thought.

still, i have no problem with people repeating questions, people are constantly joining so of course there will be similar questions asked frequently...i just skip ones that i have no interest in. i love this community, i'm so stoked on all the great ideas! thanks everyone! i'm getting a sewing machine for christmas, so watch out!

I'm making some of the rice bag handwarmer thingies for xmas presents this year, and I have to admit that I'm a little unsure how they keep working. How many times can you heat these things up? How do they stay moist after being microwaved a few times? Do you need to spritz them with water or anything?
Inquiring minds want to know!!

So the sewing machine I borrowed for an indefinite amount of time from my mom's cousin has...issues. It's a fairly old Singer model, and it's nice and all, but I'm beginning to think it cannot sew a straight line. At first I thought I was doing something wrong, but now I'm 99% certain that the machine makes my fabric veer off to the left unless I pay close attention and guide the fabric back to the right. My question is thus:

Is this fixable? I'm looking for a) long-term fixes, no matter what the price (because if all goes well, I will own this sewing machine soon instead of 'borrowing it forever') and b) a short-term fix (in the rare event that I *do* have to return it)

I seem to remember hearing once that you could thin Elmer's Glue with water and use it in place of Mod Podge in decopauge. Is this true, and what glue/water ratio do you use? Thanks!

I got my fancy yarn yesterday in the mail and started on this hat last night. And I'm already done!

As you can see, it's not exactly like the pattern, simply because the yarn is different. If the length of the thick and thin parts would have been longer, I would have gotten that exact scalloped pattern. It's still cute - the photo doesn't show the varied texture.

Hello! me again! I have just discovered that my ma has got me a wonderful new sewing machine for xmas, and now I'm itching to use it!
Being one of the more fuller figured girls of our world, I often have trouble getting beautiful dresses in a UK size 16. I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere that i could either purchases or download some ideas or patterns for both practical dresses to wear during the day (after all, all of us want to wear nice things all the time, regardless of our size) and some more elaborate ones for evening wear. I'd really appreciate any ideas on this topic.
Thanks once again, lovely people!

Friends.

I am just wondering if there are any girls out there who want to be friends with another crafty girl (from Sweden). It would be nice to write e-mails and snail-mail letters to each other and also to exchange ideas, crafts and materials. If it sounds nice, then write a comment! :o)

Where does one BUY flaxseed?
[identity profile] kenkitty.livejournal.com
Hi! I found a 1913 treadle Singer sewing machine (picture!) in the trash earlier this year and I've been fixing it up very slowly, but I realized I probably need a modern machine as well. Can anyone recommend a good machine (and where to get it) for under $200? I want to make bags and curtains and little useful things, and one day maybe I'll be good enough to make cute animal hoodies. I'm pretty much a sewing newbie at the moment... but I'm pretty sure I'll need more than just a basic straight stitch.

thanks!

my boy and i have recently been inspired to re-decorate our living room. were painting a black and white checkerboard pattern on one wall. and the predominate theme colours are black and silver with bits of dark red tossed in here and there. however. our couch is ugly. its a lovely shape. but its ugly. very ugly. and i am desperately wanting to slipcover it black. however i cant find a black slipcover anywhere. and if i could its very UnAffordable.

so i beseech you lovely craftgrrrls: ive never made a slip cover in my life. i am not a very good seamstress. is there a very easy way to make a very nice looking black slipcover? i remember seeing something on the tv about making them out of bedsheets. but that was ages ago.

help!

wow, you guys got me all started. someone once gave me several pounds of the flat glass marbles. but most are either reflective, or colored. i have found great things to do with the colored ones, white hearts behind red marbles, white leaves behind green, etc. thanks everyone for the inspiration!

so once again i plague
you crafty girls with moronic questions
in reference to this guitar strap idea i have.
so i was wondering if anyone knew
where i could get some vinyl? (the material,
not the record type)i wanted to sew
it on to the image cloth that i'm gonna
make. i think i've found someone
who'll let me use their machine...
i just have to ask.
once again any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Allright, i was hoping some - or one - of you could give me a little help with making a wallet. I made a friend of mine a purse, and she loved it a bunch and now she wants a matching wallet. The fabric I'm using is just normal cotton. I figured I'd go ahead and just wing it and see what i can come up with, but if anyone has a site that has directions, or just any tips that would be really great. I think something like this might've been brought up a while ago, but perhaps it was just talk of duct tape wallets. Thanks in advance!

word.

Thank you everyone so much for responding about my pants-to-skirt question. I finished it tonight and while quite *quirky* I like it a lot. So if you see me around town....give me a wink! :0)

On to my next dilemma. My room-mate and I are *MAD* pickle fiends. We go through jars of pickles quite rapidly. Any crafty ideas of things to do with the jars? or the lids? I feel bad just throwing them away. But we can't keep flowers in them....we'd have too many to handle!

mwah.
