i'm sorry if the answer to my question is somewhere in the FAQs and i missed it each time i looked. i also can't find any answers on the websites that i've looked at. but, how do you create tassles on the end of a knitted scarf? thanks!

Hi all! I'm new and I really really hope someone can help me because I don't want to have to be committed at Christmas. I have two questions that I've done numerous searches for and haven't found any definitive answers to.

1. Can you bleach and re-dye yarn? I like the yarns that change color (almost a tie-dyed effect) but can't find the right colors so I thought if I could pull it off I'd make my own.

and 2. I want to knit/crochet my boyfriend a guitar strap to go on the guitar that I bought him for Christmas and was wondering what stitch I should use? I know how to do both (basically) but I'm not very familiar with different stitches. Of course, I need one that won't stretch very much from the weight over time.

Thanks in advance as any help will be mucho aprecio!

Hi, I'm new :)

I just received a box of See's chocolates for the holidays and was inspired to create something with the Christmas-colored foil from the candies. I'm a total newbie when it comes to crafts though, so I have no idea what to do. The closest thing I could find on the web was a Fall Vase. Not exactly what I was looking for, but I think glass and foil make for a good project. Any suggestions/ideas? I would greatly appreciate it.

hi!! i remember making cinnamon ornaments in 4-H a long time ago. in fact, we still have em and they are suprisingly in one piece and smell nice!

you just mix ground cinnamon and applesauce together and make shapes with cookie cutters, then let them dry. i don't know the exact recipe, but here is one and some pictures!: http://www.mccormick.com/recipedetail.cfm?ID=1264

i hope someone hasn't already written about it. anywho, if you make them, you might wanna wear some rubber gloves, otherwise your hands might get stained from the ground cinnamon and smell like it.

also, i apologize for this, but i really wanted to show someone!

yay! I finally finished my scarf, it's the very first real thing I've knitted. I made it *way* too wide and so I had to fold it in half. It's double-stranded so it was super-thick to begin with, now it's just crazy. There are a lot of little mistakes in it but whatever. I knitted it using the knitting needles I made.

Here it is sitting in my knitting basket with Nyago the Knitting Basket Kitty.

One of my favorite crafts is decorating candles.. I wish I had a camera to post pictures! You get those big thick candles and spread glue on with a paint brush and then cover the candle with tissue paper. Then cut designs like hearts, stars, some ones name out with tissue paper and glue them on too. Glitter and confetti is always nice, too.

I made my best friend one that was black with pink skulls and her name, one with an angel and some stars for my grandma, and a really pretty one for my mom. I covered it in a cream paper and then cut out little bees and at base of the candle made a hive!

This might be admitting that my family is kind of screwy, but I forgot that my dad's girlfriend lives with him. Granted, she's only lived there a few months, and I've been thousands of miles away during that time, but you'd think I'd remember. Anyway, I thought I had my christmas shopping all done, when I remembered her. I didn't really have anything to give, and didn't feel like going back to the store, so I fashioned a gift out of stuff I had laying around the house.

1 large glass bowl/vase/something
stamped tissue paper
decoupage stuff
potpourri
small glass votive holder
votive candle

I rubber stamped the tissue paper, let it dry, then glued it to the outside of the large bowl. I let that dry, then applied another coat of modge podge. When it was dry again, I poured some potpourri inside, set the small votive holers in, and put a little more potpourri around it. Then, I put the candle in the holder and wrapped it all up so I could send it.
I'm not telling anyone but you guys, but the potpourri was half of a bag that I had left over from when I put the rest into another little jar in my house. I didn't quite have enough to fill the bowl I made her, so I had to mix some of my old, smell-less potpourri with the stuff that still had a scent. Reused potpourri. That's so sad.

It really does look a lot nicer in person. The flash on my camera made it look kind of funny here, and by the time I put the pictures on the computer, I'd already wrapped the bowl.
