i've just finished my zine as much as i can but it seems i've overshot how many pages i need and have about 8 to fill up. i'm asking that people PLEASE email me your haikus, comic strips, embarassing stories, funny pictures, etc involving masturbation. ANYTHING that has to do with masturbatin will work. and if your contribution goes in the zine i'll send the issue to you for free including s&h!!! PLEASE!
thanks for your time =)

Updating my bathroom- Need Ideas!
Feb. 1st, 2003 08:44 amI have 2 bathrooms that I'd like to update colors/redecorate in the Shabby Chic mode. 1st bathroom: dark maroon tile walls, grey tile border, black and white tiled floor 9ugh) and bright floral shiny pink and grey flowered wallpaper, white sink. I like off white or pale purple.
2nd bathroom: black tile half way up entire walls, beige and white large fish wallpaper, white sink, off white tile floor.
Help! It's an awful retro style that needs updating!
I'm on a budget...suggestions for pictures, colors, towels, rugs/bathmats....Thanks!!!

I finally got an email from the magazine, you do NOT have to use the hideous pattern in the magazine. Thank Gawd. If anyone really wants it I will send it to them but it is pretty sad, sorta a paperdoll shape with triangle hands, odd feet and a built-in shirt shape to it. Trust me, any 5 year old could do better. I can email it or snail mail it to people without printers. I am designing a couple bodies myself, if you don't feel up to designing your own, I'll share the base patterns I come up with instead of the one from the magazine if anyone wants mine.
Remember, entries must be recieved by them by March 1st, they must be textile based, 2 sided and between 6" and 12" tall. You can stamp, paint, dye, bead, and embellish to your heart's content, any way you see fit....but do both sides.
Let's blow them away with entries from this group, shall we?

Hey Kimmercake, how about a topic in the memory section for "contests"? Our community members could provide info when they run across info on contests and art competitions our crafty members could enter. Just a thought. I can provide the info on the art doll contest again if you cannot find it in the listings. Plus I have a list somewhere from an email I get on 2003 art competitions I could give you to list. Anyone else have anything to add to such a heading?

Feb. 1st, 2003 12:34 pm"Since tomorrow is Ground Hogs day I'm making these cool "groundhog" cupcakes. You make regular chocolate cuppie cakes and then put on white frosting for snow (or you could put shredded cocoanut but I don't like shredded cocoanut)and then you take Nutter Butters and stick them half way inside and draw a groundhog face on them. Heehee.
They're insanely adorable and yummie. ^_^"

Feb. 1st, 2003 03:28 pmMy sewing machine died mid-project last night, which did not make me happy. This morning, as I was trying to finish by hand I remembered that the “table” in our foyer is actually a Singer Touch and Sew 758. (My roommate’s grandmother gave it to us when they moved to Florida.) I dusted it off and checked it out. It seems to be in great condition. The only problem is that it’s missing the foot control/power cord. I’ve looked online and at ebay and I can’t find anyone who has these available and gives a price quote on their website. Anyone have any experience buying parts for old machines? Any suggestions or recommendations of places I can look online or in NYC?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
i'm not too sure about this.....
Feb. 1st, 2003 04:16 pmI'm moving soon , so I'll probably be going for a modern-ish / zen-ish look after all I'll be moving out in about 2 months to sydney after I move into the new apartment with my family, I might as well keep it simple and neat since I don't have time to make it anything fancy. Furthermore there is a certain chance that I'll not be coming back and my parents can rent out the room.
I was wondering if anyone knows how those vinyl cube stools are made , do they have any form of support inside? As in is there wood or something to hold it up and then you place the stuffing it to make it soft or do they just compress alot of stuffing to make the stool keep it's shape? I'm thinking of trying to make one myself if it's possible if not I'll just be making black vinyl cushions.
Or and another thing ,is there anyway to make the walls look like just plain smooth cement without scrapping off the paint and such?

Back around Christmas time, somebody posted instructions on how to make ornaments out of cut out circles of paper. I made one out of a Gap gift card cardboard sleeve...thingy.

I also made another belt with my knitting Nellie/spool knitter/corker/whatever you wanna call it.
[linked for size]
I don't know if I like how it came out. I think it should be thicker, so I'm currently knitting another cord the same length and then I'll sew them together.
And now, lamp "kits"+fabric+yarn for sale/trade!
(this part of this post was crossposted to
ramshackle)
I bought some stuff to make desk lamps with a while ago, but I never followed through with it. I got lazy! Now you can have my half-finished lamps (call it a lampmaking 'kit', won'tcha?) for cheap $$$ or a trade.
( lamp #1 )
( lamp #2 )
Last but not least, I'm still trying to get rid of a skein of rainbow-colored yarn and some camouflage fabric! Any takers?

Another artsy question:
This semester I am taking Color Theory. I was asked to get different Spectrum gouache colors. Spectrum Red, Spectrum Yellow.. Ultamarine Blue?... and I didn't find all the colors I need. Here's the trick. I own Primary Blue, Primary Red and Primary Yellow gouache. I have to do a color wheel. Lucky for me most of it is done, except the innards. It's due Monday. I wonder if I can get away with it. Using the colors I bought, plus the primary's. I cheated and made purple using Primary Red and Primary Blue, eventhough she (my professor, Michelle) didn't want us to do that. SO..... can I get away with it? I want to do my color wheel right.
My other alternative is to go to another art store and try to get the rest of the gouache colors I need.
