I'm new to the community and crafting in general. I only really got into making things during the last two years. I blame it on attending an art college :)

Anyhow, this is one of the spur-of-the-moment projects I did tonight.

I went apeshit on a tshirt with some scissors )

I took one of my old thrift store tees and just hacked away at it with some scissors. I've tried doing this before and it didn't work out at all, but now I think I have the cuts down that flatter my figure the most (wide open necks and off the shoulder sleeves). I plan on picking up some sweat shirts at Goodwill this week so I can do the same thing because sweats can be hip too!

I also did a bit of detailing on an old tie I had laying around with some red thread and red felt. You can spruce anything up with a little felt and thread.

But yea, I just thought I'd introduce myself :)

Anybody have any neat ideas for what to do with old license plates? I have a couple off my old car and would like to do something crafty with them but haven’t come up with anything yet. Any suggestions would be great!

I was looking through my dresser and found this cute skirt I got from Hot Topic a long time ago. It's a simple circle skirt but the thing is, around the hem, there are these embroidered cherries all over. @o;

Now, cherries are a very delicious fruit. Especially in pepsi. ^^; However, I do not want them over something I would wear, so people can be skeevy at me. I've been slowly seam-ripping, cutting and pulling out the threads. It's very very tedious, since it's not an embroidered patch, it's sewn on to the skirt.

Is there any way I can make this go faster? 30 minutes and I'm barely through eradicating one cherry.

Thanks!

just wanted to show off this bag that i made : )

i took a pathetic (but greatly enjoyable.) fashion class at my community college, and this was one of my projects.

it's very roughly put together. my teacher told me i had a very "sid vicious" (lol!) approach to sewing.

except, this bag wasn't sewn at all!
for the pattern, i roughly sketched the shape of a bag that i knew i liked. i wanted it to fit easily over my arm,
and i extended the bottem to make it a bit deeper.
i used denim for one half
pin up girl (version : outdoors) printed cloth
and glued them together!
i put a few (rough!) back up stitches where the bag and the strap connect on both sides.
and, viola!

*the pictures could be a lot better,
but... i have a question for some of you professionals out there,
what's an easy (possibly utilizing glue) way to stiffen it up a bit?
i don't mind a floppy bag... but i know it might look better if it sit flat.

Hello! I'm also a lurker coming out of my shell - that seems to be common around here! Hee! Well i recently bought a mini seweing machine, because I don't plan on doing any heavy duty sewing with it, just doll clothes and general hemming.

I had always watched my aunt sew and my mother, and they always made it look so harmless and easy. This small machine scared the pee out of me! It is loud for one thing and snatches the fabric right out of my fingers! *laughs!* I did manage to get a handle on my fear and have been practicing on a scrap of cloth. Turning seems to be especially troublesome! I managed to make some loopty-loops before unplugging the machine to make this post. My hands are still shaking though because it frightened me so bad. I just didn't expect it to be that way! *lol!*

I plan on making myself some pillows sometime too. I am bound to post pictures from the results of my experiments with the mini-sewing machine. ^.^

Did anyone else ever experience a fright when they first tried a sewing machine?

This is a pic of a VERY sloppy composition book cover up that I gave my friend Amanda as a gift reccently.

I sort of just threw it together with safety pins and duct tape in 20 minutes or so (as is the way us crafty procrastinators). So how can I make it look less sloppy next time, and still have it be quick and easy to do?

hello, just thought that i would introduce myself, seeing as how i've been lurking for a couple of weeks now:) i would really like to compliment everyone on all the beautiful crafts you gals are making, you all do such wonderful jobs. i love opening up my friends page and seeing all the new crafty posts and pics^_^

well, down to business:
i promise i've scoured the faq page as much as humanly possible, considering that i'm on school computers(i don't own a computer myself), which are really testy and aggravating. i was wondering if anyone could give me any information about dyeing clothing? can you dye crushed velvet? what about polyester? i'm planning on doing them black, and also throwing in some of my faded clothing. also, i read somewhere that if you brew a cup of dark tea, and throw it in the wash with your faded black clothing, that it will bring them back to life a little. has anyone ever tested this out? how well does it work?

please forgive me for making this so long...and thank you very much in advance!

I just finished this scarf for my mother. It's my third completed scarf. It's about 4 feet long a really pretty veregated wool and very soft. I did it in garter stitch so in only took a few days to complete. I almost want to keep it for myself.

Hey all.... first off I have a "you know you're crafty when..." thing.
The inspiration comes from my true to life tale (that took place 2.2 min ago). I was just deciding to post and I reached for my chap stick.....

You know your crafty when,
You go to reach for your chap stick and instead you uncap and apply a glue stick to your lips.

Yes, yes I did. They happen to be right next to each other so it was an honest mistake.

Anywho, I need to buy massage oil for Valentines Day. Where can I get unscented or manly pure oil? I know ya'll have the answer to this. It's not in the memories.

What sucks is I used to work at Garden Botanika and we got this stuff in bulk for free. All the "add your own scent" shampoo, lotion and oils I could ever need.
