can anyone explain to me how you mill soap? it seems so fancy, i wanted to give it a whirl, but i couldnt find it in memories so i thought i would inquire. thanks!
Hello again fellow crafty peeps :) I just got back a piece of pottery I painted at one of those places where the provide all the stuff, you pick out a piece, paint it, and they do all the firing for you and such. I know, they did a lot of the work for me, but I still painted it all! :D I did it with a woodsy theme, with a little trail on the inside, lined with trees...and then a pond in the dip holding part, complete with fish and a frog! Check out the lil paw prints and stuff around the edge of the path, thats my favorite part! Although the path looks more like a mud river than a path...but uhm, its really a trail! I swear! Teehee!
i'm currently trying to compile a list of craftivism resources.
i'm looking for more information on places/organizations that combine craftiness with activism. things along the lines of knitting for animals at shelters, the afghans for afghans project, the lipstick project, etc.
okay, i forget if it's been asked (specifically by me, but i couldn't find any record in the memories so i hope not!), but i'm about to do my first load of laundry purely by hand (i'm too poor for the laundromat and our laundry room closed just recently.), and i remember something a friend of mine once told me about making patchouli scented laundry. i haven't talked to her in a while so i can't ask her. it doesn't necessarily have to smell like patchouli, but i was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on making my laundry scented? i have some scented bath oil, but i'm worried that even a drop or two of that would ruin my clothes (they're just wash 'n wear for the most part.)
any suggestions before i attempt this experiment? thanks girls and boys!
I had the best valentines day of my entire life! I hope all ya'lls was great too. Anyway, I have a random/craft related question.
My boyfriend made me some wonderful gifts for valentines day and one is a crafty-clue. I hoped that maybe you all could help me figure it out.
He gave me a tile. A blank white ceramic tile. On it he taped a heart with a sweet letter. The letter said that the tile was a peice of something that he is going to give me for our 1 year anniversary. He said it is something we can share no matter where we are, apart or together.
He encouraged me to try and figure out what it could be so I thought I would use and abuse your crafty brains. Any thoughts?
There's nothing like a blizzard to get me crocheting. :*)
All I did to create this messenger bag was: a) fold the bottom 1/3 of a crocheted rectangle upward, b) lace up the sides to create the pouch (the top 1/3 is the flap), c) crochet the strap, d) fasten two wooden beads onto the front of the pouch as buttons.
woops guys, I'm sorry about that last post, I messed up the LJ cut =/ you can delete this entry, but i'm sorry for making your guys computers upload all my images =( sorry!!!
For some while now, Tegan had wanted a pair of red trousers, the lovely type that has big flares, and are tight on the bottom. SO, Tegan and her friends decided to go to Camden in London to look for some. The first shop she went in, she saw the exact thing she was looking for. She rushed to try the on, but alas...they didn't fit. She went into the next shop, and saw some similar ones, bat once again, they didn't fit. Tegan was baffled. It was fair to say that she was a big girl, (size 16/18 in UK sizes), but she was by no means fat. There was not a shop in the whole of Camden (or London, for that matter,) that stocked what she wanted. Tegan felt cheated. She began to cry on the train, and her friends comforted her as best they could, but nobody could really help. Big people are obviously not allowed to wear bright clothes.
Unfortunately, I am the Tegan in question. I am sick to death of having to apologise for the size of my ass, the fluff (its not fat) on my belly, and the fact that I'm actually happy with who I am. I will not tolerate this from shops; I had enough of being bullied while I was at school. I will not put up with it now.
So, my lovely girlies and bois...I am looking for a pattern for some trousers with big flares that will be a nice fit on a beautifully curvy lass. I'm also having trouble finding a suitable material that is a funky red, so if you know any trustworthy sites or shops near London, I'd be forever in your debt. THis would really make me happy, and I also know that you are the best people to ask.
Thankyou!
P.S : One last thing...if they do not have ot in your size, politely ask why. Things can be changed if we all use our consumer power, and I am fairly certain that I am not the only person this has happened to. Thanks again. xxx

I bought a kimono from a used clothing store. It looks awesome, but it's REALLY REALLY WRINKLED and I cannot get the wrinkles out no matter what I do. I tried simply ironing it - that got out some of the wrinkles but not all. Then I ironed the opposite side for good measure, which got out more but not all. Then my mom suggested getting it wet and ironing and that got out more wrinkles but there are still some stubborn creases that refuse to go away. Is there anything else I can do?
Oh yeah, and I don't know exactly what fabric it's made of (it didn't have a tag) so I've been using the lowest iron setting and testing everything in a corner. I might just have to try raising the heat, though. :\
Anyone have any ideas? I picked out all the good ones, but now I have a box full of 8-tracks that simple don't work, or are horrible music.I just dont want then to go to waste.
My boyfriend just got himself a brand new zylon [i can't fucking spell it , it's a band made up of members from emperor without the lead vocalist/guitarist/the mastermind behind emperor] vinyl and we've decided that we shall buy more of it and we'll be possibly buying 2 turntables at the end of this year.
I thought that it'll be nice if I could make him a record bag /case like the vintage ones with the indexes between them. Any idea on what material I should use to make the bag/case and how do I insert the indexes so that they do not fall out or should I just use normal indexes?
