lately i've been collecting the bags that my fortune cookies come in. they have a chinese lady and designs on them. they're wax paper bags with red ink.

i don't know what to do with them, but i definitely want to display them somehow.

One of my favorite skirts tore today (I've had it for 5 years, so it was bound to happen). I love the fabric though, so I would like to use it for something. Any suggestions? The fabric is pretty thin, but it's ankle length so there is a fair amount of it. Thanks for your help!

Anyone know if there are ANY places online to find FREE sewing patterns?

I can find crochet and knitting patterns to my heart's content - but sewing? Forget it!

It's not even a matter of me being a cheapo (although that does come into play), but more of a matter of me not having wheels and being able to run to the fabric store every time I have an idea of what to do with some of my fabrics. :/

Any help? Right now I'm looking for a cheerleader-type short pleated skirt, but I'd love some URLs with lotsa stuff.

Today my mom popped by Bou Clair while taking me home from school so I went in and bought a bunch o'supplies for making my very first purse/bag.
It involves black rope-like trim for the handles(I think it's supposed to be used to tie back curtains) and buttons and some cream fabric with black flowers and if it turns out I think it will look really cute.
I have my fingers crossed that I can do this, especially since I don't own a sewing machine.
wish me luck.
edit: oh and a note to Harry Potter fans, I saw an HP pillow at Bou Clair with the crests of gryphondor, slytherin etc on them so I'm assuming they must carry the fabric like that there as well, I was in a hurry or else I might have looked for it because two of my cousins are HP crazy.
