I made another little bag just for the heck of it last night. Voila :) I don't like this one as much though, I need to make wider, but keep the height.

those seams between the flap and purse really do match up :)

Ok, I live in a fairly run down neighborhood (moving next week), but in the meantime our yard and the streets around us are littered with glass alcohol bottles, like 40's 20's aiplane bottles and others. I was thinking about picking them up, washing them out and turning them into Vases. But I want to do mosiac on them. I have never done it before so I was just wondering a few things. I've seen diffent things used for mosiac- like tiles and plates and studd. What would you suggest? And when I want to stick the actual pieces on the bottles, do I use just the grout or do I buy special stuff? And where can I get plates/tiles for cheap? Does Home Depot/Lowes sell damage tiles at a discount?

I think that is it . . .

Thanks,
Lindsey

(i just managed to figure out this picture-posting stuff *and* got a new camera; i'm almost done!)

wanted to show y'all the curtains i made out of sheets--they are very plain, but they do the job of keeping the sun out of my face too early these sunny mornings, which was their purpose.

and also the pillows i made with my very simple sewing skills. i used the stuffing out of pillows i already had, and was tired of. the fabric is actually four cloth napkins that were HUGE that someone gave me.

ok, i have a small stash of beads (and some nice light gray wire) that i've decided i don't have the patience for, and figured someone here could use it.

OK, so I just waded through the FAQ section a bit and while I *did* find some helpful tidbits on iron on transfers, I couldn't find the answer to my original question...

Basically I'm in my first attempt in the whole iron on world and I've already hit a snag in the printing phase! I'm using transfer paper especially for dark fabric (which every one seems to love) and while it's printing, my printer has this annoying tendency to scrape/rub the part it's just printed. Big black smears across my images where not exactly what I had in mind. So I tried it again, holding the edges down during print so it couldn't do that. In a way it worked and in a way it didn't. It was perfect for about the first 1/2 of the page (which was nice since I'm printing 2 images per page, so at least one is perfect) but when it got to the last 1/2 the only way I could guide it was by actually touching the semi wet top of the paper...I think it'll work out OK *this* time because when it was all done, I ended up with a pretty cool looking hand print over the image of a face. (Extra cool for this image because it's a face with the words "I am not a brave girl" one the top/bottom of it. See, fitting!) Anyway, I'm getting long winded-but my question is-has any one else had this problem? How did you fix it? Maybe it's the paper I used? (It's super thin paper and my printer doesn't have a velum setting) I'm going out of town tomorrow morning and was hoping to wear some of these new shirts while I was away. If you could, please give me some guidance today :) But if it's past "deadline" I still want to read about it when I come back!

THANKS!
Brooke

Oh, and if I was just blind and some one did actually go through this in the FAQs, feel free to guide me there and delete this post...

first, let me preface this by saying i'm new. i have a question for you pro beaders out there, as i've only done a few amateur projects so far. i've searched through the memories and haven't found quite the answer i'm looking for, so's i aks you:

i want to make a necklace, but the way it is going to be constructed it might work better if it were threaded with something relatively elastic-y, as it will cover many variations in the neck. i'm using medium/large plastic beads, so width or gauge isn't a problem. however i need something relatively durable and long lasting. preferably light weight. i worry that elastic will look crappy and the knots will fall out under the weight.

am i making sense?

Mothers day is coming up pretty soon and I am looking for a simple gift to go along with hanging baskets we usually give her. My sister is off travelling in Europe and she was always the creative one, so I don't have any good ideas! Does anyone have any greats crafts they make for mothers day, or have any suggestions for me? Thankyou!

So I lost some weight recently and I have all these old pants that don't fit. I suppose I could take them in, but I really don't like baggy corduroys anymore.

I might like them more if I made them into baggy long shorts, though. So any suggestions on making them a little bit hipper? How would I, for instance, take the leftover leg material and make cargo pockets or something?

Or any other good suggestions?

I've had this mod podge around a long time because I never really liked it, but I made this coaster and needed to seal it. So I used mod podge, it's crinkly and matte, but it'll do. I need to practice my mod podge skills I guess.
